“I’m Goldie. Nice to meet you.”
Her eyes dance as she looks from me to Oliver and Finn. “Have you known the Behr’s for long?”
“A few months. What about you?”
“I met them recently, after they helped my husbands save me.” She points, “This is Hook and the brooding man next to me is Ronan. Kellan is at home with our kids.”
Wait. Did she say husbands? As in plural?
Oliver snakes his hand around my waist. “Didn’t peg Smee as the babysitting type.”
“Neither did I.” Her hand goes to her stomach. “But it’s going to be good practice.”
“Oh my gosh. Congratulations.”
She’s beaming as she replies, “Thank you.”
Hook says, “We ran into Atticus earlier. Looked like he’d had a few to drink.”
I snort, and Oliver answers, “Yeah. We’ll go find him before he does anything stupid.”
Amelia leans in and whispers, “Why do I get the feeling you have something to do with that?”
I’m grinning as I whisper back, “I totally do.”
“Good. We’ll have to have lunch soon, so you can tell me all about it.”
My heart swells. “I’d like that.”
She says, “Me too.”
I mean it, too. Red was my only friend and since she’s been gone, I’ve felt that loss of friendship. Amelia might be just what I’ve been looking for.
Hook turns to his wife. “Are you ready to go home, my darling?”
“I am.” As they walk away, I think I hear her add, “Daddy.”
Hook laughs as the three of them leave.
When they’re gone, I turn to Oliver and Finn. “So, she’s with the three of them, right? Like, I didn’t misread the situation? And how is she married to all three?”
Finn answers, “To answer your question, she’s legally married to Hook, and, yes, she’s with the three of them in the same way you’re with the three of us.”
“Well, they seem to make it work. Wonder if any of her guys are ever jerks like Atticus?”
Oliver laughs. “I’d imagine so.” He leans in. “Can I tell you a secret?”
My stomach flutters. “Yes.”
“Fighting can be fun. Want to know why?”
I’m breathless as I ask, “Why?”
“Because the make-up sex will blow your mind.” We’re so close that his breath fans my face. “Want to know something else?”
“Yes.”
“We’re about to ditch this party and go to Neverland. And we’re game for whatever you want to do while we’re there.”
