Finn says, “Now we get ready.”
We spend the rest of the day doing just that. The guys check their weapons, making sure everything is loaded and that they have extra magazines. When Atticus puts on his holster, I moan to myself. This might be a fetish of mine. Seeing these guys in their element is a huge turn-on.
Oliver comes over to me, handing me a small black box.
“Aren’t you supposed to get on your knees when you propose?”
He laughs. “Just open it.”
Inside is a small earpiece.
“We want to be in contact with you at all times.”
“Did you build this?”
“I did.”
He helps me put it in my ear. Looking in the mirror, I smile. I can’t even see it, and I know it’s there. Plus, my hair will cover it.
“When do we leave?”
“Soon. It’s almost time.” He smiles. “You nervous?”
“A bit. Mostly worried about you guys.”
“I knew you cared.”
I don’t deny it.
Finn walks over. “Here.”
He hands me a small gun. I’ve used a gun before, but I’m not a huge fan of them.
“Where am I supposed to put it?”
“We can put a holster around your thigh.”
“You can do that?”
He grins. “We can do anything.”
I believe him.
Atticus joins us. “Can you break into a safe, angel?”
“Depends on the safe?”
“Wolfe’s.”
“Oh. Yeah, I think I can. It’s just a standard hotel safe, so it should be straightforward.”
“Good. While we’re distracting him, I want you to get into that safe.”
“You think the other pieces are in there?”
“I know it. Wolfe’s always been too cocky for his own good.”
“I hope you’re right.”
