“What are you thinking?”

“About having sex with you against the coat closet.”

His pupils dilated and she glanced down to see his dick harden against the front of his jeans. He sort of flushed and tilted his head to the side, then raised both eyebrows at her. “I wouldn’t say no.”

She shook her head.

“Areyousaying no?”

“I don’t know,” she admitted softly. “I’m trying to figure out how to hook up with a guy for the first time when it’s not.”

“Aw, Paisley, every time with you is like the first time,” he said.

“How do you figure?”

He shrugged out of his jacket and let it drop to the floor as he walked toward her. “Every minute with you I’m learning something new. Each layer that you peel away shows me another layer of the woman I thought I knew. And when we make love, I feel like I’m getting deeper and deeper into you.”

She blinked at him as he kept coming toward her. Her heart was starting to beat faster, her skin felt hotter and her breasts grew fuller, as they always did when she thought of him. He stopped when there wasn’t more than an inch of space between the two of them. She smelled the minty freshness of his breath, the faint fragrance of his aftershave and something else that she associated only with him.

Their eyes met and she knew he wanted her, but he was waiting. Letting her set the pace tonight. She appreciated that, but she didn’t know if she could take the lead. She was too aware of her secret, and how she was going to have to tell him about the baby. How would he feel when heard?

“Kiss me,” she said.

“With pleasure,” he murmured, rubbing his thumb along her bottom lip and she opened her mouth to bite it as shivers spread down her body.

Unable to wait a moment longer, she put her hands on his shoulders and raised herself up on her toes, until their noses brushed and she was staring into his beautiful blue eyes. She wrapped her legs around his hips. His mouth on hers was just as familiar as it had been earlier, but this time the kiss tasted sweeter. This wasn’t a do-we-still-like-each-other? embrace. It was one that wasn’t meant to end until they were both naked.

Paisley reveled in the feel of his tongue rubbing over hers and his big, warm hands sliding down her back, cupping her butt, as he intensified the kiss. She felt the wall behind her and then he planted one hand against it, pulling off her beanie and watching as her hair tumbled around her face and shoulders.

She broke the kiss. She saw something on his face that she’d never noticed before, and she wanted to explore it. But then all thoughts abandoned her as he put her on her feet and undid the buttons to her coat. She felt the backs of his fingers brushing against her breasts as he undid the buttons and he pushed the coat off her shoulders to the floor.

She was so hot for him. It was all she could do not to rip her sweater over her head, then shove off her leggings. But she knew she wanted more than that. More than a quick coupling in the hallway.

She wanted to make love to Sean. To know him the way she’d known Jack and maybe even more.

Sean was done debating about everything. He was back in Paisley’s apartment—she wanted him back in her arms and that was enough for him. Her coat fell to the floor near his and, honestly, he wanted her hot, quick and against the coat closet in the foyer of her apartment.

But this was their first time with no lies between them and a part of him wanted to do it right. But he knew there was no thinking. From the moment she’d said she was thinking about sex against the wall, he had barely been able to hold on to his control. His mind had gone into mating mode. There was no other way to describe it. His hands were shaking a bit as he tried to go slowly and not just rip off her clothes and get inside of her as fast as he could.

This was Paisley.

The one woman he wanted more than all the others.

The one woman that he was trying to win back.

Her hands were on the hem of the sweater vest he was wearing and he felt her drawing it up over his head. He impatiently yanked it off himself, then tossed it aside. Her fingers moved to the buttons of his shirt as he reached for her sweater tunic and pulled it up and over her head. He stepped back away from her touch and took a moment to admire her body. The body he had lost the right to see naked when she’d learned he’d been lying to her.

He hadn’t thought he’d feel this emotion... What was it exactly? Maybe gratitude, maybe relief. It was tinged with joy and lust. But those two emotions were always prevalent when he was close to her. Sometimes just seeing her smile could make him hard.

She had on a red lacy bra and he reached out to cup one breast, rubbing the palm of his hand over the lacy cup, feeling her nipple harden. Her skin was pale and creamy. He traced his finger around the outline of the cup, teasing himself when what he wanted was to remove that damn bra. But now that he knew she wasn’t going to kick him out, he wanted to draw out the anticipation.

This felt...well, like something he couldn’t take for granted. She’d left him once and he knew himself too well to think that he wouldn’t screw up again and maybe lose her permanently.

He wanted this moment to be one to remember. She put her hands on her hips, which forced her shoulders back and her breasts forward. “Have you suddenly decided you don’t want to see me naked?”

“Hell, no. I’m just trying not to push your pants down and take you fast and hard. I want this...ah, hell, this sounds stupid out loud,” he said, drawing his hand back and thrusting it through his hair.

She brushed aside his hand and tousled his hair. “Not silly at all. I want this to be special too.”
