“And then, we’ll be getting out for a bit of a chat.”
She gave him a sad look. “I don’t want a scolding.”
“Take that belt off while we’re moving and you’ll get more than a scolding, baby girl.”
She didn’t really know what she was doing right now but hopefully the threat was enough to persuade her to keep the belt on.
“Maybe we need some sort of harnessed seat,” he said to Webb as she started humming a tune.
“Like an adult-sized baby seat?” Webb suggested. “That could be an idea.”
“I’ll look into it.”
“I don’t need a special seat. Hey, you want to have a sing-along?”
He winced as she started singing. She really did sound terrible.
“Ooh, could we stop for a milkshake?”
“Not today, baby girl,” he told her. “Maybe another day. You need to get some rest.”
She sighed. “All right then. You know what?”
“What?”
“You’re a really good Daddy.” Reaching out, she grabbed hold of his arm. “I wish you could be my Daddy. It would be nice to have someone I could depend on, who put me first.”
“Maybe your wish will come true this time.”
“My wishes never come true. Only my nightmares.”
“Ah, but that was before you met me.”

Keira woke feeling groggy. Her mouth was dry and she really had to pee.
Rolling, she moaned slightly as her mouth throbbed and her ribs protested.
Damn, did the universe really have to kick her while she was down? This was going above and beyond in her opinion. Although at least her mouth didn’t hurt as much as it had before. Was it getting better?
Thank God. Because she really hadn’t wanted to go to the dentist. She shuddered at the thought.
“Are you finally awake, baby girl?”
She froze.
What was Zander doing in her bedroom? Oh Lord, had he been here while she was sleeping? From her dry mouth, she was pretty sure that she’d been snoring.
Fuck. Crap.
Act cool.
What does it matter if the really hot guy you’ve been having sexy dreams about heard you snoring? His opinion of you isn’t important.
“Baby girl?”
Wait. Why was he calling her that? She had this really bad feeling that she was missing something. She racked her brain.
