“It’s my body. I should get to say what happens to it.”

“You do.”

She relaxed slightly at that. She should have known better.

“So long as you make the right decisions.”

“You don’t get to decide for me.”

“I do if it’s impacting your health.”

“You are so infuriating. You are not in charge of me.” She glared at him.

“If you can’t make the right decisions for your health and safety, then I’ll have to step in. You know, I think they have it right on Sanctuary Ranch.”

“What? What does that mean? That’s where Eden lives, right?”

“Yes, and it was set up a long time ago by her great-great-great-grandfather? I can’t remember how far back it was exactly, but he wanted a safe place to live with his wife. And her other husband.”

“Holy crap. You mean that happens in real life?”

“Of course.”

He said it so matter-of-factly, as though it was silly to think otherwise. Was she just naïve? She didn’t think she was. However, she’d thought that was just something that occurred in fiction. Reverse harem romance books were some of her favorite books to read. Especially if one of the harem was a Daddy Dom.

Not that she could handle more than one guy. No, thank you.

“You know a lot about the ranch.”

“I work for Jensen Security International. Their headquarters is on Sanctuary Ranch.”

“And Eden’s brother, Kent, runs it?” she asked. “Wait. If you work for him then did he send you to find me?”

“Yeah. After Eden went to Reaper’s Bar looking for you, Kent sent me to track you and the envelope down for Reyes.”

Right.

“Most of Kent’s other employees live on the ranch, but I prefer my own space. I also don’t like having to follow rules that I didn’t make. And my team prefers to be here as well. I also don’t trust anyone else’s security measures.”

“So you’re saying you’re not a very trusting person.”

“I’ve been told I’m paranoid. The guy who set up Sanctuary wanted a safe place for women, where they’re cherished and protected.”

Huh, yeah right. For someone who had rarely ever felt safe, that sounded like a bunch of drivel to her.

“He only allowed other men who thought the same as him to live there, men who would look after their women, take responsibility for them. Make the rules and enforce them.”

Uh-huh and here it came, where the other shoe dropped. “So he encouraged men to hurt their wives.”

“I believe if they broke the rules, they’d spank them.”

Okay. Her mouth went dry, even as arousal thrummed through her.

“Right, so they hit them.”

“You think spanking is abuse?”

“If the women didn’t agree to it.”
