“Yeah, you should pick a scary one.”
“What? Why?”
“Because then you’ll grab onto me when you’re scared.”
“I don’t get scared from movies.”
“Well, maybe then I’ll grab onto you.”
Huh, that wasn’t a bad idea.
She moved down to the sofa, after grabbing Squeaks. It wasn’t like she had to hide him from Zander. She scrolled through the movies, settling on an action flick.
When Zander returned, he had a huge fluffy blanket draped over one arm and in his hands were two mugs of hot cocoa.
She raised her eyebrows as she took in the marshmallows piled up on top of both drinks. “Is there any cocoa with those marshmallows?”
“Figured you might need sweetening up.” He winked at her as he set both mugs on the coffee table. “Plus, I really like marshmallows. Just don’t tell Lochlan.”
“Oh, don’t worry. I won’t. I’d like to never see him again.”
“He said that a lot of Littles are scared to visit the dentist.”
“L-littles? You mean he knows that I . . . but I’m . . . other Littles?” Shoot, she wished she could get out one thought.
Zander put the blanket over her, then picked up a bottle of something off the tray he’d set down. He grabbed a syringe as well, and opened the bottle drawing some liquid out with the syringe.
“Was there a full question in there?”
“I’m not a Little.”
He just raised an eyebrow. Yeah, he didn’t believe her at all. What had she done while she was high on those drugs?
Damn it.
“Is Lochlan an, um, into that?”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
“I’ve never asked him. I don’t know if he goes to a club. I know he used to have a girlfriend. Ammo would know. But it’s not my business.”
“Oh.”
Zander narrowed his gaze at her. “He’s not going to be your Daddy. He’s your dentist. That’s all you need to know about him.”
She gaped at him, shocked by the sternness in his voice. Was he . . .
“Are you jealous?”
“No, because there’s nothing between the two of you and there never will be.”
She huffed out a sigh. “You’ve got no say if there will be or not.”
She had no idea why she was trying to prod the beast. It wasn’t healthy. Or smart.
He crouched down in front of her, putting himself lower than her but leaning in. She waited to feel panic. But he wasn’t looming over her. And she knew he’d deliberately positioned himself like this.
