I hung up with Julian and laid down on my sofa. Little Rascal jumped up on my chest and looked down at me as if to say, “What are you doing, Daddy? Feed me.” Chance laid at my feet, and Buster pulled up a spot beside the sofa on his bed that was under the coffee table, where he felt safe.
I closed my eyes and pictured Darcy. I pictured her in all the different ways that I knew her. I smiled. I loved all the images that came to mind. Even the bad ones. She was sexy as hell, no matter what face she had on.
I thought about her past and what her mother had said about her. I was certain it was true, just by Darcy’s response. I will admit that it was really strange. I’d never really cared how many men the women I dated were with. It was never something I’d wondered about. With Darcy, I was wondering. I didn’t like the thought of sharing her with anyone else.
I realized that I didn’t care about her past. It was something that we should just leave there… in the past. I just had to convince Darcy that we could do that and move on. I had to think of some way to get Darcy to give me a second chance. Merely saying I was sorry and wouldn’t hurt her again wasn’t enough. It had to be on a grander scale.
I slowly sat up. I knew what I had to do. I called Shellene. She answered, and I told her my plan.
“Thane! That is amazing. Consider it done!” I smiled. Then that smile turned into a grin.

Darcy
I walked into the living room, and Remi, Shellene, and Lila were all sitting there, waiting for me. I set my tea down and pulled up a cushion on the floor to join them.
“I just want to start off by saying I’m so sorry that you had to witness that awful scene with our mother,” I said. I looked over at Addison and smiled warmly. “Spoiler alert. I might get a bit sappy here, so pay attention because this doesn’t happen often.”
“That’s for sure,” Addison said, smiling.
“Don’t we know it,” Lila agreed, setting everyone into laughter.
“And you don’t need to apologize for that, Darcy,” Shellene said, covering my hand with hers. “What she did was inexcusable and childish. You had every right to banish her from your life.”
“You guys are my rocks, my true friends. You too, Addy. I am so incredibly lucky and blessed to have you all in my life, and you are what true family is.”
“We love you for who you are, Darcy, every part of your life. We’re here for you always,” Shellene said.
“I agree. We are blood sisters,” Remi said.
“We are the sisters of the Broken Hearts Club, and we’ll always reign supreme,” Lila added.
“Thanks, ladies. I really appreciate your friendship, patience, and love. Okay, I’m done with the lovey-dovey stuff.”
“Okay good, because we are all going on a little excursion,” Lila said as she stood up slowly.
Everyone stood up with her, looking at each other, confused.
“This will be fun. Come on.” She waved us all to follow her. We all piled into her SUV, and she drove us to the park where the circus was. We all got out of the car, and Lila said, “Shellene will take it from here.”
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“You’ll just have to wait and see,” Shellene said and giggled.
We walked up to a trailer, and Shellene knocked. The door opened, and Shellene looked at us and said, “Give me three minutes.”
We waited outside. “Lila, what is going on?” I asked. Lila only crossed her arms and smiled widely.
A few minutes later, a woman came out of the trailer and told us that we could go in now.
We all went in, and the lady dressed as a psychic told us to sit down. We did what we were told. The lady took my hand and said, “It seems you have had some terrible times of turmoil throughout your life. But I see a man, yes, that’s right. A tall man with short, dark brown hair and brown eyes. He’s so handsome. Oh, he’s a troublemaker, this one. But, what’s this? Oh,” she said, looking at me. “This man is in love with you. Yes, he is in deep love with you, but I see a problem. Ah, yes. You are afraid to trust him, and he has hurt you many times. I see here that you should forgive this man, for he will change his ways and do whatever it takes to make you happy. Oh, this man’s initials are… hmm… I see a T. And I see an E. Oh, dear. This man would be heartbroken if you didn’t listen to what he has to say… give him a second chance.”
I tilted my head and looked at the psychic lady. “Shellene, I know it’s you,” I said. She brought down the mask and smiled sweetly. Everyone laughed.
Remi stood up and said, “Darcy, we are going to leave you here alone, and if you love Thane, he will appear. If you do not love him, then he shall not.”
With that, everyone left the trailer. I was bewildered. What is going on?
