Nate tapped her shoulder and then pointed to the doorway.
Jade gasped. “The whole team is here?”
Nate grinned. “Even those knuckleheads are a part of it. Just think, you’ve got four brothers now.”
She looked up at him. “So, I call you brother?”
Nate tapped her chin. “No, you’ll call me something else that we’ll discuss later.” He nudged her toward the guys. “Go say hi, baby.”
Chapter Three
Tessa couldn’t get over the fact that the whole team was there. The darkest day of her life was quickly turning into the brightest.
She ran to them, and they surrounded her.
She could hear Blake, Jade, and Cole, but the guys were blocking them.
“Hey, half-pint,” Brandon said.
Tessa sputtered and laughed. “Half-pint?”
“Hey,” Jade said as she pushed through the wall of men. “Don’t bitch—”
“Language,” Cole yelled.
“Sorry, Daddy.” Jade grinned at her.
Tessa covered her mouth when Cole snorted.
“Anyway, Blake calls me Pickle. It used to be peanut.”
Tessa giggled. “Why did he change it?”
“Just because I ate pickles in front of him,” Jade said.
“You ate the whole bowl,” Blake said.
“So! I like pickles,” Jade said.
“At first, I thought you were pregnant or something.”
Jade gasped. “Daddy,” she yelled.
“Blake, be nice to her,” Cole said.
Tessa pressed her palm to her mouth. A person couldn’t stay sad around these people.
The circle of guys had widened enough to let the other two men in. Tessa loved how Jade went immediately to Cole, and he pressed a kiss on the top of her head. It was like they’d done it a thousand times before.
She was startled when Nate wrapped an arm around her waist. “How are you doing, babe?” he asked.
“I’m better than I was ten minutes ago. I can’t thank you all enough.”
“That’s what family is for,” Jade said. She looked at Blake. “Even the retarded ones.”
Tessa sputtered.
“Jade,” Cole said. “I’ve asked you not to say that word.”
