I swallow hard at her words. He really would do anything I ask, including giving up his dream of wanting another child. Being pregnant has thrown my emotions off kilter, and I’m so confused as to what I want to happen. I woke up this morning unsure of what to do. I change my mind at least twice an hour. I think it’s best to think on it for a while. I still have time to decide without rushing into it.
“I thought Chloe was coming?” Holly says as she comes to sit with us. “Da says she was joining us.” Chloe is Holly’s eighteen-year-old sister, she’s Denis’ daughter, and Makenna’s niece.
I glance at Ade, who’s got a furrow between her brows. “She should have been here by now,” she whispers. “Hay,” she calls out, and the room goes silent. “Wasn’t Chloe supposed to be here by now?”
The air in the room goes static at her words. “I’ll call Elio,” Rocco says, in regards to his brother.
“I’ll call Chloe,” Jade mutters as she reaches for her cell.
“I’ll call Denis,” Makenna sighs.
We wait on bated breath for everyone to finish their calls.
“No answer,” Jade says as she hits something on her cell and puts it to her ear again.
“Denis said that Elio and Chloe left almost three hours ago. They should have been here by now,” Makenna tells us.
Rocco enters the room again, his eyes dark with anger.
“I got through to Elio’s cell,” he begins, and my heart batters against my chest. God, this doesn’t sound good. “He didn’t answer, but a cop did. Elio’s car was struck by a semi. There were signs of a struggle, and the passenger’s side door was left open. Chloe’s gone.”
Movement happens at once. Every member of the Gallagher family is heading toward the door, not a word said between them. Hayden moves to Ade.
“I’ll call once I have news,” he tells her. “Alessio, are you staying here?”
Alessio isn’t far from my side these days. Unless he’s at work, and even then he has more men surrounding the house than what’s needed, but I know it gives him peace of mind, so I don’t complain. The day that I was beaten and Anthony was taken, there were no guards on us and that’s what’s shaken him to his core. “I’m staying. I’ll guard Ade and Vivi-Anna with my life.”
Hayden nods, presses a kiss against Ade’s head, and does the same to his daughter’s before he follows his family out the door.
“They’ll find her,” Alessio assures Ade. “The Gallaghers are a force to be reckoned with. Pissing them off is never a good idea. Whoever took Chloe will be punished,” he announces, before going in search of our son.
“I just hope they find her before she’s hurt,” Ade whispers, and the pain in her voice makes my heart clench.
“I do too,” I reply.
God, how much heartache does one family have to have?
Seven months later, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, who looks just like me. Gracie Josephine Bianchi is the apple of her father’s eye and the pride of her big brother.
My family is complete, and I couldn’t be happier.
The End.
