I couldn’t think. I couldn’t speak. I just shook my head.
Alexie moved on. “You are right. It is time we got rid of them. Look into weaknesses at their little club house. I will create a battle plan.”
I looked up to see Roman standing, a good soldier in front of his general. “I’m on it.”
“And Roman?” Alexie called before he was halfway out the door. He waited until Roman turned back to him. “Be careful. Don’t get caught.”
His caring tone caught me off guard. There were many facets to Alexie that intrigued me. It was hard to view him as the villian when I came so hard for him. A kidnapper, yes, but rape? My brain couldn’t wrap around those words. It felt different when I was with him than it did with the prospects. Maybe I was broken.
When Roman left, I cleared my throat, trying to just put the whole MC out of my mind. There was nothing to be done now.
Alexie turned in his chair, giving me a beautiful smile that made his scar stretch on his face. “Something you want to add, malishka?”
“I was wondering if you could hand me a book. Pick something romantic. I like romance.”
His eyes lit up in delight. “I’d be happy to.” He rose from his chair. His muscles filling out his dark clothes. He grabbed a book for me from a random shelf. Then he brought it over to me, but instead of handing it over, he leaned forward.
“Kiss me for payment.”
I sighed like it was a hardship, but inside I was thrilled. Leaning forward, I closed my eyes and gave him a sweet peck.
He took over and swept his tongue in my mouth until I was dizzy and filled with the taste of him.
I felt the book in my fingers and opened my eyes. He smiled down at me, amused, then sauntered back to his desk.
I opened the book and looked forward to getting lost in another world. Hopefully, one that didn’t have a kidnapped heroine catching feelings for her captor. I didn’t need to read it when I was already living it.

Whistling, I gathered breakfast for Sloane and went to bring it back to our room.
Sloane was lying on the bed staring at the wall when I walked in carrying her tray. I placed it on the nightstand and sat beside her.
“It’s time to eat,malishka.”
“I’m not hungry,” she mumbled. “My stomach is upset.”
“Come on. Be a good girl for me and eat at least half your plate. Then maybe we can go to the gardens and get some sun.”
Her ears perked up at that before she deflated again. “No. I’m not hungry, and I don’t want to go.”
I shook my head. “You need to keep my baby fed.”
She rolled over to glare at me. “I’m not pregnant! There are such things as false positives.”
Chuckling, I stroked her hair. “Believe me, you’re very much pregnant. Deny it all you want, but in less than nine months, my baby boy will come into this world covered in blood and howling.”
“You don’t know it’s a boy.”
It wasn’t lost on me that she ignored everything else I said. “Oh yes, I do. I bred you, so I think I get to decide what you’re having.”
“That’s not how it works,” she groaned. Still, she sat up so I could feed her.
Bite by bite, the entire tray was soon empty. Sloane falls back on the pillows, rubbing her stomach, satisfied. If I was being honest, it was really sexy.
I stared at her, mesmerized. I wanted to immortalize this moment in time. Remember her fondly once she was gone.
