“I’ll take another Blue Hawaiian.”

Seconds later, he returns. “Here you go, ma’am.”

When his finger slides over mine, I freeze. What do I do? Flirt? Did he do that on purpose? I don’t know how to flirt. Do I want to flirt with him?

He winks and smiles. “Are you having a good night?”

“Uh, sure.” I slam the drink into my mouth and guzzle the contents. Fuck. I cough while trying to catch my breath.

“Are you okay?” Alexander grabs the drink from my fingers, sets it down with a clink, and pats my back.

Oh, my God. This is humiliating. “Yes,” I choke out and clear my throat. “Yes. I’m fine. Thank you.”

“I’ve got this.” He tips his head toward the bartender.

The man presses his lips together and studies Alexander up and down. Then he returns his attention to me. “Let me know if you need another drink.”

“Okay.” I grab the glass off the counter and finish my drink. I’ve made a fool out of myself already. I might as well be trashed.

“Doll.” Alexander snatches the glass from my fingers, prying them off one by one. “I don’t think you’re a big drinker, so you might want to slow down.”

“How do you know I’m not a big drinker?”

“Because you have good girl, who does everything for everyone else and never thinks about herself, written all over you.” He leans back against the bar top and surveys the crowd.

Good girl.I shiver. He said, ‘Good girl.’ Even if it wasn’t in that sexy, baritone, melt-your-panties way, it still sent a zip of desire down to my toes.

The DJ announces another dance for the bride and groom. Julia had to have paid them extra to make every other songtheirsong. I frown. When did she get back over here? The bartender walks around the edge of the counter and hugs them before they head off to the dance floor.

Alexander tilts his head as his eyes bore into mine, causing my panties to flood. The man is gorgeous. He’s big. Muscular. Eyes like a molten lava cake. Everything about him is fantasy candy. Is fantasy candy a thing? Lord, I made that up, didn’t I? Man candy? A fantasy man?

Is he real? I pinch his bicep through his suit jacket.

He arches an eyebrow. “What did you do that for?”

“To see if you were real?” I drop my arm to my side. “You look real, but I may just be drunk enough to conjure you in my sleep.”

His mouth curves upward. “Is it a good dream?”

“What do you think?” I’m flirting. Holy hell. I’m actually flirting, and he hasn’t run off.

He leans his hip against the bar. “I think you’ve had too much to drink.”

Heather glares at me from a few feet away as everyone cheers the happy couple. She wants him. I gnaw on my bottom lip. Fuck her. Fuck all of them. He’s from out of town. He’s made a big deal about me doing something for myself. Well, if he insists. I will, and it’s going to be him. And I’ve had just enough rum to give me the courage to do it.

I lick my lips and channel every smutty romance novel heroine I’ve ever read. “I’m not that good of a girl. Unless you want me to be your good girl.” I arch my eyebrows. “For tonight. What do you say? I’m tired of dealing with these people. Where are you staying?”

His entire body stills, yet somehow manages to vibrate at the same time. I’d crawl into a corner and die from humiliation, except his eyes are swirling with lust, and the tension cracks around us like the building is about to explode. “Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m sure. You say I never do anything for myself. Well, tonight is it. I want to do you. We don’t know each other. It’s not like we’ll see each other again. Julia and Wyatt have been together for eight years, and I’ve never met you before today.” I wave the bartender over. “I’ll take another Blue Hawaiian.”

“Sure.” He retreats to make the drink but not until he’s checked me out again. Clearly, the combination of the dress and the alcohol is putting me into the fuckable category.

Alexander inhales and rakes a hand through his hair. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

I snap my head around and cross my arms over my chest. “You don’t thinkwhatis a good idea?”

His eyes dive to my boobs and stay there. Finally, he sucks down a breath and meets my eyes. “Another drink. It’s a bad idea. I want you sober enough to enjoy everything I do to you. Now be a good girl and get whatever you need.”
