I savored his hand on my back, his touch, his scent, his everything. Part of me felt like I should’ve pulled away, recognized we were bordering on inappropriateness between an employee and her boss.
But what Jason said next took me totally by surprise.
“Want to get out of here?”
I lifted my head from his shoulder and looked at him with surprise.
“I mean, yeah. You sure you don’t want to stay?”
“One of the nice things about being the man on top—no one tells you what to do. Come on.”
He kept his hand on the small of my back as he led me through the crowd and off the dancefloor.
I felt like I was under a spell, like I couldn’t control myself. Before I knew what was happening, I was in the back of the limo with him, the driver taking off.
Jason sat next to me, his body close.
“I want to know something,” he said, his voice low and sensual.
“What’s that?”
“I want to know what you’re thinking about right now.”
It was him. Of course it was him. How could it not be?
I knew I should’ve lied, I knew I should’ve held back. But I couldn’t take it any longer. Sitting there under the gaze of those gorgeous blue eyes, I was helpless.
“You. And what about you?”
“I think you know the answer to that. I bet you can guess exactly what I’m thinking about right now.”
I could’ve. And if there was any doubt at all, his lips on mine answered the question in the sweetest way imaginable.
