“Yeah,” I said as I moved closer to him. I didn’t have any option unless I wanted to sleep on the couch. I’d rather spend the night between Adam and Cam than sleep alone. I drifted around him. “I did. Actually, it was the first thing I did. I know that’ll surprise you.” I took a breath and released it, pointing at Adam’s door. “His bed is free. They can take you home in the morning.” I didn’t bother to make sure he found the bed.
Darius didn’t follow me. I didn’t hear any protest, but I didn’t hear the bedroom door close either. I left Cam’s door open.
I kicked my shoes off, and after glancing at the bed, I shoved my jeans down. I pulled my bra off and climbed between the two men on the bed. I wrapped an arm around Cam’s waist and he murmured something unintelligible. Adam twisted and scooted closer, his butt coming into contact with my hip.
It didn’t take me long to get comfortable. Even though I had little space between the two of them, I relaxed readily. My eyes closed, and I tried my best to fall asleep. I was exhausted. There wasn’t any reason I shouldn’t just drop right off.
I huffed out a breath, opening my eyes so I could glare at the dark ceiling. The fan whirled overhead, only offering a slight distraction. I tried to count my breaths, hoping it would be enough to tire me out so I could sleep.
Then something moved in the darkness. I tensed, holding my breath. The bed shifted, and Darius nudged Adam. “Move over.”
Adam grumbled and rolled over, his arm going around my waist. His hips pressed against my butt, but he only snuggled against me. “This is fine,” he murmured, pressing a sleepy kiss against my neck.
“We need a bigger bed,” Darius said in the darkness.
“Only if you intend to stay in it,” Adam said. “Question is, do you?”
“Can I trust that this isn’t another game?” he asked.
Adam didn’t speak up. His arm tightened around my waist, and it was clear this was left on me to respond. I could feel the tension against my back, letting me know he was worried about my answer.
“I’ve learned my lesson,” I answered honestly. “I learned it before Kyle walked in on us. No more games, I’m not using anyone. I just want—” I stopped myself, not sure just what I wanted. My hand was flat against Cam’s stomach. His handclosed around mine, surprising me. He was awake too? “I want this. I don’t know what that says about me, but I want this.”
“Okay,” Darius said after a beat. “We can talk about this after we sleep and sober up.”
Chapter 19
Grace
My alarm went off, pulling me out of the sound sleep I’d been in. It was a struggle, but I sat up to reach for my phone. Cam was still against me, though he had rolled over so that his arms were around me. I didn’t pull away from him. I just leaned over his side to get to the noisy phone.
Adam groaned and scooted to the end of the bed. He got up and stumbled to the bathroom. It left me between Darius and Cam.
Cameron buried his face against my hip, pulling my shirt up so he could rub the slight stubble against my skin. I twitched away from him and lost my balance, falling sideways so that I half-landed on Darius.
“Sorry,” I cringed, sitting up. “I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
“Why do you need an alarm so early?” Cam complained, not letting me go.
“It’s eleven,” I told him, not bothering to get up. Adam was still in the bathroom. From the noise he was making, it was clear he’d over-indulged. “I’ve got to work tonight. So I can’t sleep all day.”
He grunted, but didn’t let me go. “How long before there are no more late nights?”
I paused. I hadn’t told them I was quitting the job I had at the bar. I could only guess where he’d found out. Elle hadn’t been able to tell him—we’d been too busy for that. The only other options were Chad and Gary. “Another week,” I answered honestly.
“That’ll leave you just working at the car lot?” Cam asked.
“Why are you working at the dealership?” Darius asked, sitting up beside me. He had shifted closer. “After all of this, why are you working with your brother?”
“It started as a way to try to get Adam his job back,” I explained easily.
“You don’t have to do that now,” Cam said, pulling away from me gently. “But working at the car lot makes it easier to take you out.” His hand skimmed across my thigh. “We’d get more time to spend together.” He looked conflicted and sat up. “Let me get him taken care of,” he said as he got up. He sauntered to the bathroom door, still wearing the slacks he’d worn last night. He tapped on the door. “You dying?”
Adam just groaned, loud enough for the three of us to hear him. Cam nodded like he understood and went down the hall. That meant I would have to wait for a ride home. “How come he’s hungover, but you and Cam aren’t?”
“Shots,” Darius answered. “I bought him a few.” He shrugged. “And I’m better at holding my liquor.”
I hadn’t noticed them buying drinks. I eyed the man next to me. He looked tired, but other than that, he didn’t look as if he was gonna be sick, either. “Are you okay?” I didn’t know how to take him suddenly changing his mind.
