Chapter 1
“Youareafuckin’goddess.”
Violet smiled as she looked down at Henrik. Henrik, her soulmate. Henrik, her other half. Henrik, the wolf she had spent the first half of her life waiting to be with, and the second half waiting for him to find her again. She had always loved this wolf, before she even knew what love was. Everyone had seen it before the signs had ever presented, before his wolfish abilities had come to light. Everyone had always known.
Little Henrik would always protect Sweet Violet.
Only, he wasn’t so little anymore, and she certainly wasn’t so sweet.
“Are you going to worship me? Are you going to get on your knees and praise me? Are you going to—“
Henrik’s hands tightened as he flipped them over, Violet’s back hitting the bed. She gasped and wrapped her legs around him, trying to take control back, but even with as tall and as strong as she was, there was no fighting back against a giant. He was so big, making her 5’10“ self feel tiny in comparison. In their youth, he complained about hitting his head on doorways, light fixtures, and tree branches, and she had just giggled, thinking it silly. Now, as an adult, she rather liked how big he was.
“What are you going to do to me?” she whispered, watching as his eyes drifted down to her lips, the color on them likely smeared from their kisses.
“Anythin’ I fuckin’ want.”
His mouth pressed to hers in an insistent kiss, pinning her there as his hands grabbed her wrists. Both of hers fit into one of his hands, and he held them down on the bed as his other hand moved between her thighs. She gasped, feeling his fingers run underneath the edge of her lingerie, lingerie she had purchased and worn just for him.
He had always said she was pretty as a present, and now, she was presenting herself to him, a present for him to unwrap, to enjoy. She wouldn’t move her hands for anything, even without him holding her down. She wanted him to explore her, to feast on her.
They had both pointed out she was a goddess, and it was time for him to worship her.
“Spread these pretty thighs for me and let me breathe your sweet scent in, Little Witch.”
“I’m not so little anymore,” she taunted, and rocked her hips up against his hand, trying to pull him closer. “Not a witch either.”
Violet did as she was told, but she couldn’t help the back sass. For years, no one ever heard her sweet side, the softness in her gone once she was pulled apart from her wolf. Now, he was back, and while her sweetness had returned, he would also enjoy the bite of her words.
“Still my witch,” he teased, his fingers sliding in and out of her. She groaned, wanting him back within, but she couldn’t move, could only watch as he licked his fingers to taste. “Fuck, this was worth the wait.”
With heavy eyes, Violet watched as Henrik took his time, licking each of his fingers. She could only imagine how good she tasted, but she knew it would be better on his tongue, or better yet, on his cock. She wanted it, wanted him inside of her, wanted him to mate her in the old way, and wanted to sink to her knees in front of him, giving him the gift of her mouth in return.
“Worth the wait?” She wanted to be sure. Wanted to make sure. Fifteen years was a long time. Was she worth it? She had waited for him, even when hope was lost. There would never be anyone who could measure up to him, so she had never even bothered. Was it worth it, waiting so long?
“I searched for a decade and a half for you.” His lips trailed along the top of her hip, pressing open mouthed kisses as he went. “Every day and night, I dreamed of bein’ with you. Of havin’ you. Everything I was, all I am, and what I will be is yours, Violet. ‘Course you were worth the wait, but you ain’t gonna make me wait no more, are you?”
“Mate me,” she whimpered, the placement of her hands forgotten as she reached down to tangle her fingers in his hair. “Make me yours.”
She wanted him out among the fields, or deep within the forest. She wanted him to lay her down on a blanket of flowers, so the sweet fragrance of summer warmed them as he took her. She wanted to dig her fingers into the earth, to feel the magic flow through her. She wanted to sink her teeth into him, to feel his magic flow through them both. She wanted to—
“Are you fucking moaning?”
Violet jerked upright off the leather couch she was passed out on, blinking rapidly as she looked around. Dragging a hand down her cheek, she wiped off the drool that had pooled there. A dream? Was it all a dream?
Another one? That was the fifth in... seven days? Eight?
It was too many. After years of not dreaming of Henrik, years of being apart, she could barely even remember his face.
This time was different. This time wasn’t a memory. The other nights had all been memories of events of the past, of him taking her on sweet picnic dates and swearing to her he would wait until her training was done. The night before had been her last memory of him, the night she had begged him to stay with her, her witchy senses telling her something was off.
She had been right, in the end. The town had gone up in flames, and she had never seen him again.
“Violet, the fuck is going on with you?”
Groaning, she stretched her arms over her head before turning around to look towards the owner of the voice. Drake was a pain in her ass on good days and downright insufferable on the worst. Of all the people to catch her passed out asleep, and possiblymoaning? Of course it had to be him.
“I thought you weren’t working today,” she snapped, but let out a sigh as her back cracked slightly. Twisting the other way, she felt and heard another crack, then pushed herself up. Glancing down, she noticed her cup of tea from the night before. She had blended the leaves carefully to give herself a dreamless sleep. The cup was drained, so she should have slept peacefully.
