She smiles and nods her head. “Be right back,” she says, kissing Kelsey’s cheek and walking to the living room. Kelsey gives me a smirk and a hug while the clicking of Shyla’s heels against the hardwood alerts us to her walking back into the room.
“I bought it so it would fit the both of us. I wore it the last two nights, so it has my scent,” Shyla says, handing the black shirt over to Kelsey. She holds up the shirt and giggles when she sees the front. It’s the photo of us all together on the boat the other evening.
“I love it. Thank you,” Kelsey says, leaning up to kiss Shyla, which she greedily takes.
“Drive safe and call me as soon as you get there. If either of you needs anything at all, call me,” she tells us. We both nod our heads, giving hugs and kisses before I throw our luggage in the back of the car and open the door for Kelsey.
She reaches across her chest, buckling the seat belt, and sighs. “I feel guilty,” she says.
“About what?”
“Shyla seems sad that we’re leaving and I feel bad keeping this secret from her. You really think she will react that poorly?”
“Shyla’s family is complicated. I think we should wait until everything settles down and she feels more confident in being a part of your life.”
“Only if you’re sure. I’m also worried about Cameron. You should have seen him. He looked so defeated over Dom and I both going out of town."
I smirk at her. “Don’t worry, sugar, it’s all taken care of.” I lean over the dash and place a kiss on her lips before putting my hands back on the wheel and reversing out of the driveway.
Dropping off Kelsey was bittersweet. She’s so fucking happy to see her brother and Deja Fox. I’m staying down the street at a hotel while we wait to meet my cousin and her pack. We’re meeting in Greenwich tomorrow, since they will be coming from Boston, it seemed like a decent halfway point, since we have to drive back to Virginia.
I’m nervous but so excited, and relieved that Kelsey will be there with me. I wish Shyla could be here as well, but I have some plans in the works.
My phone vibrates on the nightstand, and I smirk as I see the name pop up.
“Hey Cameron,” I say, smiling.
“Uh, hey. Sorry to bother you. But I didn’t want to call Kelsey when she’s at her sleepover and Dom’s working.”
“It’s fine. What’s up?”
He clears his throat over the phone. Kelsey told me how upset he looked when Dom said he had to go away and that she would also be out of town. She also gave me a complete rundown of the cuckold scenario that she orchestrated. I can’t help but think that Shyla is rubbing off on her.
“I’m… I’m having a bit of a hard time being at home by myself.” He’s clearly upset as he sobs over the phone. “This is so fucking pathetic, Emmett. I can’t be at the house by myself for a few nights. What’s wrong with me?”
“Cam, nothing’s wrong with you. Take a few deep breaths. Do you know what has you upset?”
“I just don’t like being alone. I’ve never liked being alone.”
I blink a few times and wonder how an Omega would ever even consider the possibility of being alone. They are so heavily valued and desired in society. “Cam, would you be against me calling Shyla?”
“I… I don’t think it’s a good idea for me to have her here when Dom’s not home.”
“That makes sense. Maybe our driver could bring you to our house, or Shyla could pick you up?”
“She… she would want that?”
“Oh, you have no idea what Shyla would want.”
“It’s okay. I’ll call her myself.”
“That’s a good boy,” I tell him over the phone, smirking to myself.
“Emmett,” he says my name on a sigh, like I’m being difficult.
“Yes?”
“Thank you for calming me down.”
