“Seriously? Because it’s perfect,” he growls. “What were the chances?”
“I know,” I giggle. “Life is incredibly crazy.”
My handsome man settles next to me on the couch then.
“Okay, enough about gut-related subjects. I’ve had enough, for today at least. How are you feeling, sweetheart? The little one isn’t giving you too much trouble, is he?”
“Sheis not,” I smile beatifically. “And yes, I’m totally fine. Aside from feeling hungry all the time, but mom brought me brownies and I’ve already snarfed them all down,” I add in an apologetic tone, glancing at the empty tray.
He laughs. “I don’t mind. I want you happy and full, sweetheart, because you’re eating for two after all.”
“Thank you,” I give him a peck on the lips before sighing. “But you’ll never guess what I heard about Coleman today. I’m totally remote now, but I still chat with some of my friends there and let me tell you, the gossip isjuicywith a capital ‘J.’”
Brody chuckles. “Oh really? So what’s the latest?”
I smile.
“Well apparently, there’s ahugescandal going on at school because so many girls have been getting pregnant recently.”
“Is that really that much of a scandal?” Brody asks sardonically. “After all, Colemanisa college. College girls are wild, and guys that age will screw anything that moves. So there are probably a lot of pregnancies all the time.”
I nod.
“Yeah, but this is different because it’s not just a few girls getting pregnant here and there, it’s like alotof girls. Way more than usual, and even crazier, quite a few don’t know who the fathers are.”
That makes my boyfriend stop short.
“How is that possible? Or do I want to know?”
I smirk again.
“Well, it seems that a lot of people were hooking up at Coleman U’s pool. That new one, the one that they just renovated and re-opened. In fact, so many couples were doing their thing in there that it seems that it’s chock full of swimmers now. Seriously, there’s gallons of male fluid mixed in there.”
“What?” Brody raises his brows. “Are you fucking kidding me? So girls got pregnant from that? And how did they come to that conclusion?”
I shrug.
“I don’t know, to be honest, and I don’t think anyone really knows for sure. But quite a few women have reported pregnancies out of nowhere, and apparently, they have good reason to believe that it’s from the water at the pool. Or should I say, the swimmersinthe pool. What an apt figure of speech, right?”
Brody’s brow scrunches.
“But is that even possible?” he asks in a disbelieving voice. “Can girls really get pregnant that way?”
I merely shake my head.
“Don’t ask me because I’m not a doctor. But maybe? All I know is that my friend Ellen is definitely pregnant right now, and she thinks it’s from the water.”
Brody stares at me.
“So what is she going to do?”
I shrug.
“I don’t know, and I don’t think Ellen knows either. That’s the craziest part. I mean, what do you do when you got pregnant from swimming?”
“Holy shit,” Brody breathes. “I sure am happy that you don’t go to Coleman anymore because clearly, that place is a total shitshow. In so many ways too,” he adds in a meaningful tone. “I mean, it’s basically a den of sin.”
“I know, right?” I giggle, grabbing his hand. “I’m glad that I’m not going to in-person classes too because it’s going to give me more time with the baby, seeing that my schedule’s so much more flexible now that I’m remote.”
