He laughs. That’s a good sign. “Wow.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.”
“Did you think I might crash your elopement?”
“Something like that.”
“Fair. I might have.” Justin married a girl just a week after meeting her near his cabin in the mountains back home in Oregon. It turned out his new bride was an incredibly wealthy heiress, so while he wasn’t quitting his day job as a Navy SEAL, he now had the resources to spontaneously appear places at a moment’s notice. “Jenna’s going to be grumpy.”
I laugh. “Sure. Until it’s her turn to unexpectedly fall in love, and then she’ll be more than happy that we stay out of her business.”
“True story. Tell Sienna congratulations for us.”
“Thank you,” she says, laughing as she reveals that she’s been listening in my lap the whole time.
“Where are you?”
“Vegas now. I was in Colorado, chasing this one down to make her my wife.”
“Sounds like an amazing holiday.”
“Couldn’t have asked for it to go better than this. How’s Abigail?” Justin’s wife was six months pregnant.
“Gorgeous. Glowing. Causing me all sorts of stress.”
“Sounds about right.” I take a deep breath. “All right, I should call our sister now. Love you.”
“Yep, love you, too, little brother.”
I repeat the whole conversation with our baby sister Jenna, just as the sun dips behind the mountains. Then, as the city lights below us glitter, I kiss my wife and tell her how much I love her.
“We’re going to be late for our dinner reservations,” she whispers as I arrange her on my lap.
“They’ll take one look at your freshly fucked hair and understand why.”
She’s still giggling when I sink balls deep inside her.
Epilogue
Sienna
Six months later
I am wearinga sundress for our second wedding. And it is covering a baby bump.
Nana is thrilled.
Jake is proud.
And me?
Well, I’m horny.
But everyone we know has gathered at our new house on the edge of Conception Ridge, so finding a moment alone with my husband to tend to my needs is a challenge.
I send him an SOS text message to meet me in the future nursery, which is doubling as the wedding staging area.
While I wait for him to find me, I break down some of the cardboard boxes that previously held decorations and favors for our guests. Two more days, and our lives will be back to normal.
