Then we stop in front of a skinny storefront with a neatly lettered sign. Jacob Lowe, Attorney At Large.

“Ready?” Justin asks.

Never. I put on mymeeting strangersface and nod. “Absolutely.”

Inside, a pretty receptionist glances up and immediately recognizes Justin. Her face breaks out in a wide grin, and her eyes light up warmly.

I feel a strange stab of possessive jealousy straight through my heart, and take his hand, clutching it in both of mine.

“Abby, this is Sienna, my brother’s right-hand-everything.” He gives me an amused look, like he knows exactly how possessive I’m feeling right now, and he doesn’t mind at all. “Sienna, this is Abby.”

My soon to be knocked-up wife, he could add.

He doesn’t.

“Jacob’s just on the phone,” Sienna says, glancing at her desk. “And now he’s off of it.” She spins in her chair, raising her voice. “Your brother is here!”

The inner office door swings open, and a man who could be Justin’s twin steps out.

If I thought Sienna’s gaze was warm when she saw Justin, I was wrong. The way her attention latches on to his brother—and lingers—makes me feel a lot better.

Abigail, petty jealousy is not an attractive quality in a girl.

True story, but it cannot be helped sometimes.

“You must be Abby.” Jacob strides toward me. “Hey, brother.”

Justin laughs as Jacob stops in front of me, raking his gaze over my face.

“Nice to meet you,” I say.

“I wasn’t sure if I should believe him when he called…”

Justin cuffs his brother on the shoulder. “Hey.”

“I’m just saying, you’ve been a hermit for a long time.”

I curl myself into Justin’s side. “My hermit.”

He tightens his arm around me. “There you go. Proof that she actually likes me.”

Jacob glances back at Sienna, who busies herself at her computer. “Well, come in. Or should we go out? Have you had lunch yet?”

“We haven’t. Did you—” Justin gives his brother a pointed look.

“Yeah, I’ll grab your stuff.” Jacob stops at the desk and looks at Sienna. “Are you going to join us?”

“Am I invited?”

“You’re always invited.” He sounds frustrated.

She smiles. “Then I’ll join you.”

Okay, I’m no longer jealous of her. That attitude is delightful, and I think Iloveher.

Jacob had a stack of boxes for his brother, so Justin stows those in the storage bin in the back of his truck, then we all drive together to lunch.
