Surprised, I turned to see where he had gone, and was shocked to find him on one knee in the sand. I hadn’t even noticed that he had gotten down on his knee when he let go of my hand. I had been so enveloped with the warmth of the moment, I hadn’t stopped to watch what he was doing, and now I didn’t know what to do with myself.

I was so shocked I wasn’t sure if I should laugh or cry or what I should do.

“Trevor?” was all I could manage when he spoke.

“Harper, you have made me the happiest I have ever been in these past few months. I didn’t know I wasn’t happy before I met you, but now that you have come into my life, I can see that it wasn’t my career that was making me happy, it was only keeping me alive until I found someone like you,” he said.

I shook my head, the lump in my throat keeping me from being able to speak, but I didn’t have to anyway. He continued.

“Ever since that dinner you and I were set up on, I knew that you were the woman for me. You are amazing, beautiful, talented, and smart, and I would be proud to have you as my wife. So, what do you say? Will you make me the happiest man in the world for the rest of my life? Will you marry me?” he asked.

“Yes!” I squealed.

It was more of a shriek than anything, but I didn’t care. I was now laughing with the tears running down my cheeks as I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him.

“I will marry you, Trevor Hall,” I said. “I love you.”

“I love you, too,” he replied. And I knew he meant it.

Every word.
