“You’re my mate, Lottie. I can’t lose you.”
“You… You think that?”
I smiled. “Iknowthat.”
“I want to be yours forever, Adam,” she whispered while cradling my face. “I want you to be my mate.”
“Fuck, I love you.”
She mewled when I stole her lips, drinking every desperate sigh that rose from the depths of her soul. The skin around my solar plexus grew taut as I kissed her, nestling between her legs where I knew I belonged. The more we wound together, the tighter the feeling until I thought I was going to snap.
But I didn’t.
I stayed whole.
I drifted back with a sigh. She chased my mouth, pecking my lips liberally with the softest kisses I had ever felt. When she was done, she rested on the couch and gazed at me like I was made of gold.
She stroked my jaw. “How are we going to do this?”
“Do what?”
“Well, be mated. Do you want me to live with you? Or do you want to move Henry to the inn? It would be a lot safer for him, actually. I could keep him on weekends, or both of you could visit on weekends, or…”
I grinned. “Lottie, that all sounds amazing.”
“Yeah? You like those ideas?”
“We can try them all.”
She beamed. “And I can cook for you all the time.”
“Actually, tonight,” I said while rising from the couch. I took her hands in mine as I continued, “I want to be the one to cook for you.”
“Oh?”
Energy vibrated in my pocket.
“I almost forgot,” I said. “I have something for you.”
“It’s okay. You can keep whatever I left here.” She grinned mischievously. “Or did you take my panties or something?”
A laugh cracked my serious expression. “Lottie, you’re adorable. I’m going to eat you alive later, but I want you to have this first.”
I pulled a necklace from my pocket.Hernecklace. The one that she sacrificed to Lorena to make sure we had the right information to find my son.
She gasped. “Adam…”
“You gave up so much to help me,” I told her. I played with the silver tooth. “You gave more than you should have ever given a jerk like me.”
“Don’t say that.”
I shrugged and then extended the necklace. “I went to Lorena and gave her something in exchange.”
“What did you give her?”
“Well, I guess I gave her some happy memories or something.”
Concern splashed her features. “You can do that with witches?”
