‘Hello, you,’ I say, as he wraps his arms around me. ‘I knocked earlier but you weren’t here. I thought you’d gone already.’
‘That’s bad timing. I only popped out for half an hour or so to get some bits and pieces and a bottle of Champagne to welcome you back with. I was beginning to wonder whether you’d got held up somewhere. I was just about to text you to see where you were.’
‘Sorry. I didn’t want to be on my own so I had dinner with Bronwyn. If I’d have known you were here I’d have been straight over. What time do you leave?’
‘I’m not going anywhere. It’s done,’ he replies. ‘we’ve agreed the figure and now it’s up to the lawyers to do their thing. I’ve missed you so much!’
‘That’s good,’ I reply into his chest. ‘I’ve missed you too.’
‘Would you like to come in?’
‘Yes, I think I’d like that very much.’
