“Before she doesn’t want to know us anymore,” I say, finishing his thought. It scares me how fast she’s growing.

“What’s happening with Gracie?”

I blow out a breath. “She’s still thinking about Aria.”

“I wonder how long that’s going to take.”

“No idea, but I bumped into her yesterday on my morning run.”

“That’s good.”

“Yeah, it was a nice surprise.” I smile, remembering our easy conversation.

“Hopefully she’ll come around.”

“Sooner rather than later, I hope.”

“You getting heavy balls, bro?”

“Exactly.” I chuckle. My hand is going to lose its skin soon. With the amount I’m aroused because I’m thinking of her, it’s unusual.

I would love to have her under me.

Yeah, that would definitely fix it.

“And every other woman—”

I cut him off. “Is off limits.”

“Oh, you’ve got it bad.”

I don’t bother answering because he knows me too well to argue with him.

“How are you going with the boys’ case?”

He groans. “The defense isn’t making it easy on me.”

“You thought they would?” I chuckle.

“No, but they keep providing more evidence.”

“Ouch.”

“Yeah. He will be a daddy after a one-night fling.”

“Sounds like he needs sex education.”

He snorts. “Even that won’t help him.”

“Maybe the baby will change him.”

“Not everyone is like you.”

“Yeah, but I was married. What I’m saying is that kids change you.”

“You can only h—”

As I leave the building talking, I walk into the restaurant, my gaze lands on Gracie.
