“I mean, we talked for a bit and nothing else,” I said.
“He looks like he’s obsessed with you,” said Lori. “Oops, I’m so sorry- I’m always rambling. Do you want anything to drink or eat?”
“No,” I squeaked, holding my belly. “Do you have pain medicine?”
“Yeah, I have some medicine,” she said, digging into her backpack. “My cousin had the nerve to ask me to change into a better dress. I can’t believe her. I’ll never go to another function of hers again.”
After taking medicine, I tried closing my eyes to get some sleep. It was going to be a long and painful night.
I woke up to a hand pressed to my mouth. Panicked, my eyes shot open.
The room was dark, and night had fallen. I lifted my hands to try and shove the hand away from my mouth. The hand was rock solid.
I couldn’t see who it was either. The person was behind me, but I could feel the tough, muscled chest and knew it was one of the alphas.
I felt his energy coursing through my skin, electrifying me. I struggled weakly against him as he lifted me in his arms, his hand still pressed against my mouth.
I couldn’t scream, and I felt immobile with pain. I was at the complete mercy of whoever was kidnapping me.
As he quietly walked down the hallway and up the stairs, I punched his chest, but it felt like a brick wall. I couldn’t look up to see who was carrying me, his hand holding my head in place.
When we reached above deck, I caught sight of Tony and Wesley. So it must be Grant carrying me.What the hell did he want with me?Were they going to take me by force?
“Let’s go,” whispered Tony. “Sam said he’s close.”
“Hey! What’s going on over there?” shouted a voice. I recognized it as the captain. I’ve been listening to his voice all day on the intercom.
“Fuck, we need to jump over,” said Grant.
Wait, what?
Before I could scream or do anything to stop it, Grant started racing to the edge of the ship as I heard the click of a gun.
He jumped overboard with me in his arms. His hand released my mouth at the impact of the cold water, and I screamed.
Oh my god, I wasn’t ready to die.
“We need life jackets!” I screamed.
“There’s no way,” said Grant. Then, suddenly, I felt a sharp icy pain on my head as I hit the edge of the ship.
Then everything went black.
Chapter 10
Grant
“Fuck!”Iyelledwhenthe icy water hit me. Tiana’s unconscious body was draped over my shoulder. She had hit her head hard, and it had all happened in a split second.
It was all my fault.
Please let her be alive…
I wrapped an arm around her, holding her tight as I swam in the water.
“Grant!” shouted Tony, his long hair drenched from the water as he swam over to us. “What happened to her?”
I tapped her face repeatedly. “Wake up, Tiana!”
