He looked around nervously, then cracked his neck. “We had a meeting, and he tried to get Sandman out of the club. Nobody agreed with his decision and we put it to a vote. He lost.”
“Are you supposed to be telling me this?” I asked, knowing damn well this was club business and none of mine to know.
“No. But I think it involves you in some way.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because Sabbath is starting to act strangely. Nobody has seen him in over a week, and when he does pop in, it’s for a few minutes and he leaves again. He’s usually constantly searching for you, but he’s not even doing that right now. Ranger has been guarding Sandman just in case, not that we actually think he’ll do anything, but we can’t be too careful right now. Clash seems to think that Sabbath knows about... well, you know... and if that’s the case, he could be plotting something huge. Not to mention, no one has seen or heard from Nina since she took off with him on that bike. Has he said anything to you?”
I shuddered, remembering what Sabbath had said about Nina the last time I saw him.
“You know something, don’t you?” he prodded.
Shrugging, I carefully said, “I don’t know. He said he forced her to have an abortion, but I’m not so sure. He was acting weird... kinda like he did after he shot Leppard. You don’t think he would’ve killed her, do you?”
Snyder stroked at the stubble on his chin, and I suddenly wanted to be encased in his arms, feeling that five o'clock shadow for myself.
“No. But I honestly can’t say what he’s capable of at this point in time. The Sabbath I pledged to follow into battle, is not the same Sabbath that’s creating havoc in the club currently.”
As if he somehow had a weird radar, Sabbath magically appeared, causing cheers and laughter in the other room.
My back straightened as Snyder motioned to the bathroom. “Go in there, wait five minutes, then come out.” He moved a piece of hair out of my face, staring deeply into my eyes. Then he gave me a brief but delicious kiss, right before he pushed me into the bathroom. “I’ll see what he wants, and get it handled,” he whispered before the door closed between us.
I waited the five minutes he asked me to, but when I opened the door, I found Ramona crying in the hallway, tears streaming down her face.
“Ramona? What’s wrong?”
She looked up at me, clutching her stomach. “That bitch Keelie... she... she outed me.”
“Outed you?”
Her bottom lip quivered with emotion, a mixture of fear and terror swirling in her eyes.
“I tried to talk to her, and she pushed me, then told me to get the fuck away from her.” She sniffed. “All I wanted was to talk to her. Then she said it was all my fault that Wasp didn’t want her anymore, and she called me the D-word in front of Axl and everyone.”
“D-word?”
“D—d—dyke,” she sobbed. “Tiffani, Keelie, Havarti, and a few of the other girls all started whispering saying they knew I was into girls, and now Axl is trying to talk me into a threesome. He says he wants to see his girl eat some pussy. I’ve never been more demoralized than I feel right now, Shasta. I can’t do this anymore. Every day I stay here is like another fucking day added to my death sentence.”
My heart was breaking for my friend, but it was also filling with hatred and anger at the same time. Keelie was going to pay for treating my best friend this way. That little bitch needed to know her place.
“Go back to the apartment and hide out for a while. I’ll make sure that nobody says that kind of shit to you ever again.”
Ramona nodded her head weakly, but I could tell she wasn’t sure if I could fix an already broken situation. “I’m sorry for what I did with Sabbath,” she apologized with even more tears moving swiftly down her cheeks. “If I could take it back, I would.”
I pressed a finger to her lips and brought her in for a hug, feeling her baby bump under her shirt. If I didn’t get her out of here soon, shit was going to get ugly really quick. The guys didn’t want babies running around, especially one that belonged to a member. The men of the Lewd Outlaws lived a single lifestyle. Besides Sabbath laying his claim to me, no Outlaw had ever expressed an interest in claiming a woman and making her his Ol’ Lady, and I knew once they found out about Ramona, they’d either force her to get rid of the baby or make her give it up for adoption. I didn’t want that for her, which is why I had to protect her at all costs.
“Shh, that’s in the past, and I know it wasn’t your fault. Just go back to the apartment. I got this.”
She nodded again, gave me another quick squeezy hug, then shuffled out the back door towards her apartment.
When I rounded the corner and saw Keelie standing there laughing with the other girls, acting like she was something special, when in reality she wasn’t fit to scrape the shit off my shoes, I lost it.
My fists clenched by my sides, and without another thought, I charged forward, grabbing the anorexic-looking bitch by her brown curls, dragging her backward like a ragdoll.
“What the fuck?” she screamed out as I yanked her back and spun her around to face me.
She smirked when she saw me, sizing me up with her eyes.
