“But he doesn’t have a mate.”

“You’re safe with him.”

“How am I safe with him?”

“Because he’s gay.”

“What!” I screamed.

“I’m surprised you didn’t know considering he’s your best friend’s brother.”

“No, I had no clue,” I said. Blake stopped at another stop sign. I couldn’t help myself as I, once again, grabbed for the bulge in his pants, completely abandoning our conversation. Blake had the steering wheel in a death grip as I reached for his belt buckle.

“Please, Jasmine, for the love of Artemis, don’t do it. I will not be able to control myself. I am so fucking horny right now, and I don’t think I have enough willpower to resist whatever you’re planning to do.” I looked up at his face. He appeared to be in pain looking down at me, his breath quick and shallow. “It’s not much farther until we reach Jack.”

“Why are you resisting? I thought this is what you wanted. This is all you ever talk about, and now you’re rejecting me when I want it so badly,” I cried out. Tears brimmed in my eyes, pained that he’d have spent so much time dangling a (huge) carrot in front of me and then pull it away just as I wanted it the most.

A car honked behind us and we both looked up. Blake then pulled over to the side of the road to let the car pass. He put the car in park and turned to me. “Jasmine, please look at me.”

I turned my head so I was looking into his piercing blue eyes.

“I am not rejecting you. Even when you’re not in heat, I want you so fucking much. But it’s like how you said you didn’t want to seduce Luke—you want him to come to you because he wants you. I also want to do things the right way. I want you to make this decision with a clear head. I don’t want to take advantage of you right now just because I caught you while you were most vulnerable. So please, for the love of Artemis, just hold on a little longer until we get to Jack!”

I forced myself to sit back down on my hands. Blake then turned away from me and maneuvered the car back onto the road. I felt a pulsing between my legs that was becoming painful from the need to be relieved. I groaned.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“I’m so horny that it hurts right now,” I replied.

“Holy fuck.”

After driving a few more minutes, Blake pulled over. Jack came to his window, looked down at Blake, and said, “Damn, never thought I’d see the day you’d be so hard for me. Must be my lucky day!” He grinned.

Blake laughed. He threw Jack his keys, patted him on the back, and said, “Thanks, buddy, I appreciate your help.” He then sprinted toward the woods.

Jack sat in the driver’s seat, looked over at me, and said, “Hey, Jaz, how’s it going? Haven’t seen you in a while.”

“Hi, Jack,” I replied.

“Blake told me a bit about your situation. I’m going to take you to the packhouse and set you up in one of the guest bedrooms for now. Some warriors on patrol caught stranger werewolves just outside the pack border, so Blake has to deal with them.” I nodded, having a hard time speaking from the pressure I was feeling between my legs. Jack continued the conversation. “So, what’s this I hear about Luke being your mate? I take it that’s why we haven’t seen much of you lately?”

I groaned. “Has Lucy said anything?”

“Not to me, she hasn’t. She must be devastated, though. To be honest, I think she was closer with Luke than even Kyle is with Emma.”

I nodded, barely able to concentrate. The only thing I could think of was relieving the pressure between my legs, the swelling overwhelming. An image of Blake’s naked body on top of me, gliding between my thighs, wouldn’t leave my mind. I squirmed in my seat, trying my best not to act obvious in front of Jack. Once we got to the packhouse, Jack unlocked the front door and walked me in. He brought me upstairs to what was now Blake’s old bedroom turned into a guest room. His old furniture was still there, but it was emptied of all the other contents. I sat on the bed, inhaling. Blake’s scent, while faint, still permeated the room, clinging to the curtains and mattress.

“Just stay here for now. I’ll be back in a bit. You can walk around the packhouse if you need anything while I’m out. No one’s here right now.”

I didn’t want to do anything but lay down and take care of myself. I closed the door after Jack left and fell into the bed, my head falling against the pillow. I realized it must have been Blake’s old pillow with how strongly it smelled of him. I breathed it into my lungs—and with it all my memories of Blake’s amazing body, warming all my limbs. I unbuttoned my jeans, my hand finding its way south as I imagined what it could have been like had I not stopped Blake that day when he tried to remove my bikini bottoms. At that very moment, there was nothing I wanted more than to feel Blake’s hips between my thighs, his chest brushing up against my erect nipples, the scratching of his stubble against my lips as I kissed him, and his deep breathing in my ear.

About an hour later, I heard a knock on the door. “It’s Jack. Blake asked me to get something for you.” I made sure I was presentable and opened the door. “Sorry, this is really awkward, Jasmine. I’ll pretend it never happened.” He handed me a bag that looked just like the one Blake had left in my car a month earlier.

My whole body burned with embarrassment. “Thanks, Jack,” I said, and closed the door. I couldn’t lie, though—I was appreciative for the gift, my right hand was now cramped.

After some time, a mindlink came through from Blake.“I’m going to talk to my mom and have her call your parents to tell them you’re in the clinic recovering after accidentally ingesting wild wolfsbane. Luke and I won’t be home tonight so you can just go home whenever the heat passes.”

A shiver traveled the entirety of my body at the sound of his voice, and a disappointment followed that he wouldn’t be returning home that night. Goddess, what I wouldn’t do for a taste of Blake at that moment.
