“Stop! Stop! Stop!” She was gasping for air through her laughter. I stopped and she sat up.

“Okay, I’ll try a different tactic,” I said, moving behind her and putting my hands on her upper back. I kissed her neck while I rubbed her bare shoulders. She relaxed and laid her back against the front of my body. I could feel my erection digging into her back, desperate to have her.

“Put that thing away!” she yelled.

“Sorry, no can do. It’s too big.” I smirked.

“It’s not that impressive,” she huffed.

“Really? Now you’re making me jealous. When have you seen a more impressive one?”

“I saw one in a porn.”

“What’s a nice girl like you doing watching porn?” I asked pulling back so I could kiss her across the shoulders, pushing the straps of her dress off as I did.

“What, is it only for quote, unquote, ‘bad girls'?”

“It’s not for girls who won’t let me take their dress off.”

“You’re just jealous because the porn satisfied me more than you do.”

“Is that a challenge? Because you know I love a challenge.”

“In that case, yes. Let’s see if the big bad alpha wolf can fuck me as good as a porn star,” she teased.

I smiled and instantly grabbed her to flip her onto her back. “I can fuck better.”

After we were panting and catching our breath, she snuggled up against me. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close to my body, inhaling the fragrance of her shampoo mixed with her intoxicating scent. I loved her hair. It was so wild, like her—curls that had a life of their own.

She looked up at me and I stared back at her. “Blake,” she said, looking vulnerable.

“Yes?” I replied, my heart swelling at how sweet she looked.

“I’m scared.”

“Why?” I kissed her forehead.

“Do you think we’ll really have to go to war?”

I closed my eyes and nodded.

“I know I’ve been training for this for two years now, but I’ve never been to battle before.”

“You’ll do great. You’re so great during practice, my Amazon woman.” I smiled at her. “Just stick close to me when we go. I’ll always protect you.”

She nodded.

“Just think about the future,” I continued. “Soon I’ll officially be alpha and then we can finally get married and mark each other. And you’ll move into the packhouse with me, where we’ll be able to wake up together every single day. And go to bed together every single night—probably the part I’m looking forward to the most.”

“I love you, Blake.” She sighed.

“I love you too, Ria. You’re perfect, even when you’re being a pain in the ass.” I beamed, kissing her, not able to imagine ever living without her now that I had finally met her—my perfect mate.

Afterrunninginthewoods for several hours, I finally made my way back to my car. I knew my father would be pissed. He had given me a shit ton of stuff to work on before the big welcome-home dinner for Luke that night, and I’d neglected all of it. Once I had access to my cell phone again and was able to check the time, I realized that I had run for longer than I thought.

I drove back to the packhouse, and saw the group of cars parked in the lot. I pulled up next to my father’s car and made my way inside. Everyone stared at me as soon as I walked into the dining room. I looked around at Luke’s entire family and my parents. I could see my dad was pissed, his face was red as he glared at me, not daring to say anything.

“Blake, come sit.” My mom summoned me over, pulling out a chair next to her, conveniently also next to my father who was sitting at the head of the table.
