“I’m not spoiling her,” I bite out.
The glint in Monster’s eyes tells me he may enjoy having a daughter. He’ll probably shoot every boy who tries to date her. And I’m pretty sure she’ll have her dad wrapped around her finger.
“Her?” he questions, his dark brow arching as he regards me with a smile.
“I don’t know.” I shrug. It’s a hunch, but this is all new to me, so I may be way off base. “Let’s just call it intuition. I may be wrong. It could be a mini version of you.”
“Ach, aye, now that could be grand too. We’ll have to just keep tryin’ if it’s not.” This time, he waggles his eyebrows, which in turn has me rolling my eyes.
“Of course you’ll want to spend all the time trying,” I tease him as I head for the bedroom.
He follows close behind, and I know that no matter what happens, our family is growing and there is an abundance of love between us. Our home is overflowing with people who we trust, and who offer their loyalty. Not because they’re forced to, but because they want to.
And nothing can take that away from us.
They may try, but they’ll have a biker army to fight.
Now all we need to do is find Callia.
BONUS SCENE
REBEL
Working closely with Tye has kept my mind busy. I didn’t want to think about what would happen to Callia when I realised she was gone. Her choice to go with Bragan still doesn’t make sense to me. The woman may not be mine, because I’m too much of a feckin’ eejit to tell her how I feel, but it doesn’t stop me worryin’ about her.
It’s been years since she came to live at the clubhouse, since she became part of the family I’d chosen for myself. And in all that time, she was the only one who could make me feel anything. It was a protective need that would rear its head the moment she was in danger. But it was also desire, the attraction that coursed through my veins when I was close to her.
“This is feckin’ frustratin’,” Tye bites out as he shoves the mouse away from him. The sleek black desk is scratched by the thick silver bracelet he always wears. This is getting to him as much as it’s getting to me.
“You’ll find something,” I tell him, my hand on his shoulder offers a squeeze of reassurance.
The pressure is on us all, but Tye feels it more than others. He’s the only one who can do what he’s doing. While we can all kill, it takes a special person to be able to understand the coding he’s reading.
“Your confidence in me is nice, but I can’t feckin’ find anythin’.”
He’s an expert at what he does, and I have no doubt that somethin’ will spring up. Scrollin’ through pages of data can’t be easy, and getting into locked networks is a skill I wish I had. If I did, I could have helped him. But my expertise lies in other areas.
The club is a home where each of us offers something unique. The only thing we all have in common is the fact that we can kill a man without a second thought. In sayin’ that, though, we don’t hurt innocents. It’s part of our charter, our rules. It doesn’t matter what situation we find ourselves in, we make sure those who are caught in the crossfire are safe.
Tye moves back to the computer before picking up his mug and swallowing back the coffee that’s now ice cold. I brought it to him a couple of hours ago. But he doesn’t notice the temperature. I leave him for a while and head into the lounge. Monster and Sully are at the table going through emails Tye printed out hours ago.
It’s pissing down outside. I want to go for a ride, a long, never-ending feckin’ ride. But Monster will want me to stay indoors. It’s best we go out in pairs. Especially with the threat of Patrick still hangin’ over us.
I’m happy for him. He has Miren who brings him down to earth when he loses his head. She’s good for him. When she first arrived, I was convinced she would hurt the fecker. But it seems the girl is a welcome addition to the family.
“Anythin’?” I ask as I join them.
Christmas is in a couple of days, and I’m not looking forward to celebrating when Callia isn’t here. She should be with us.
“Not yet,” Sully tells me. “But there’s a thread I found interesting. Banking information that I’m pretty sure is encrypted. I was goin’ ta take it over to Tye to investigate, but it sounded like he needed a moment.”
I look at Sully and nod in agreement. I can’t deny it. I am worried about Tye’s mindset while doing this. If I could pull him off what he’s doing and tell him to take it easy, I would. But then we’d be back at square one. And at this point, we can’t afford to do that. “Aye, he’s stressed. Angry that he can’t find anything to help us.”
Sully shakes his head. “Ach, it’s not his fault.”
“It’s what I told him.”
I pull out a stack of papers and start scanning them myself. There is so much to go through, and I know it’s going to take longer than any of us expected. The thing is, when a member of the mob goes into hiding, it’s not like a petty criminal. These bastards have connections everywhere. We just need to find the right one.
