Hawke sauntered toward me, grinning like the cat that caught the canary and strangled it to death. He pulled me against his body, and I let him. Affection from Hawke was oddly comforting. “And he said nothing.”

“What would you have me say?” Samson asked.

“I don’t know something.”

Samson sighed, and his smile melted away. His bored expression and empty eyes looked far more natural on him. “She would have stayed longer and demanded more information about you. It is best to let her think you are insignificant than to have her attention on you.”

“What are you two doing? If I’d known you were here, Corpse, I would have come down a long time ago.” Hawke pressed a kiss to my neck. My stomach flipped as a soft moan slipped free. “Oh.” It was the only warning I got as Hawke bit down on my shoulder. Shock waves of pleasure had me stumbling forward and a heady moan dripping between my lips.

“Hawke.” My heart was beating entirely too fast. I needed some distance. He was a danger in more ways than one. Heat pulled to the lower part of my stomach as my body craved more bites.

“Yeah, say my name, Corpse,” Hawke purred, his hands moving against my hips going up.

His fingertips danced along the hem of my shirt. My breath hitched as the anticipation built.

I want him to touch me more.Wait, no, I don’t. My will was flickering back and forth. Giving into Hawke would be so much fun.

“If you two want to continue to do this, Keegan will fail for sure,” Samson said. His matter-of-fact way of speaking slammed my reality of shitty grades back down on my shoulders.

Hawke groaned. “You’re just trying to ruin our fun.” He laid his head on my shoulder. “You know you could just join us instead of being a party pooper.”

Now, wait a minute. My heart fluttered, and my pussy clenched. Fuck, that was a terrible idea. One I wanted right then and there.

“Have you seen her test scores?” Samson asked.

I groaned for a completely different reason. “You don’t have to bring them up.”

“But I do.”

Hawke kissed me on the cheek and reached for the tablet. He whistled as he let me go. “Damn, Corpse, is there anything up there?” He tapped my forehead, and I batted his hand away.

“Fuck you.”

Hawke shook his head. “I’m down for a good time, but these test scores are going to get in the way of us having real fun.”

“I don’t see how that’s possible.” Not that I was planning to have any fun with them.

“You can’t go on trips if you’re stuck in make-up classes,” Hawke said. He sighed, scrolling more. “Man, these are bad. You might as well quit.”

I crossed my arms. “Hey, fuck off. Yours can’t be any better.”

“Actually, Hawke is ranked number six in the school. He would be higher if he applied himself.”

Hawke shrugged. “I only attend because Lux said so. My passion lies elsewhere.”

“Like killing people and stuffing them into boxes,” I joked. My laughter died out quickly as neither one of the guys laughed with me. “Wait, do you?”

“Would you like to join me next time?”

Join in what exactly?Curiosity almost had me giving in just to know what he wanted me to join in on. I shook my head, and Hawke’s smile dipped. His lower lip stuck out, and I couldn’t believe he was giving me fucking puppy dog eyes.

“Hawke, if you’re awake, you can leave,” Samson said.

“No thanks. I think I’ll help Corpse too. Based on these test scores, she will need all the help she can get.”

“I don’t need help.”

“She is afraid of that word,” Samson said.
