“Meet you in the kitchen,” I said, and she nodded, heading upstairs.
I made my way into the kitchen where Violet had abandoned margaritas and was now pouring straight shots of tequila.
I’d just downed my second one when Indigo came rushing into the kitchen waving her cell phone in the air. “Tango got her. Bellamy’s safe.”
We all cried in relief and gathered around her.
“Did they catch whoever was trying to get in?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” Indigo said. “I forgot to ask.”
“We’ll find out when she gets here,” I said.
Indigo nodded. “She’snothappy that I’m making her come.”
“She’ll get over it,” I said, handing her a shot.
She took it. “Hell, yeah she will.”
We laughed and turned back toward Violet.
“More?” she asked.
“Yes,” we answered in stereo.

Bellamy walked in about an hour later, followed closely by Jekyll and Wrath. Indigo wasn’t kidding when she said Bellamy wasn’t happy about being forced to come with them.
“This is bullshit,” she hissed in everyone’s general direction, but Indigo waved her hand and shook her head.
“You’rebullshit.”
“Excuseme?” Bellamy snapped.
“You heard me,” Indigo fired back, storming toward her best friend, her hands fisted at her sides. “I told you Luigi was a piece of shit. I told you he would try to do something down and dirty, but you said, ‘Don’t be ridiculous, Indy, he’s a nerd. Nerds aren’t dangerous.’ Yeah? Have you seen ‘Revenge of the Nerds’?”
Luigi was a guy that had been harassing Bellamy for a few weeks.
Jekyll had sent word that he’d been the one who’d been trying to break in, so as much as we were relieved it had nothing to do with the Beast, Indigo was now more than pissed Bellamy hadn’t heeded her warnings about the guy.
Bellamy scoffed. “What does an eighties movie have to do with this?”
“The main nerd rapes a girl at the end of the movie, Bell.”
“Then there’s the whole Incel movement,” Violet said.
“Maybe don’t add fuel to the fire, hmm?” Raquel suggested.
“He was changing my oil, nothing more,” Bellamy argued. “There was a coupon!”
“Was ten-percent off enough to risk your life?” Indigo yelled.
“Okay, honey, I think she’s got the point,” Jekyll said, sliding an arm around Indigo’s waist.
Indigo pulled away from him, wrapping her arms around Bellamy, tears streaming down her face. “If anything happened to you, I would murder you. Like, slice your beautiful face up so you had to have a closed casket funeral. Do you hear me?”
I glanced up at Wrath and he turned away trying not to laugh.
