I hung up and glared at Tango. “And here I thought you and I had a good thing going,” I said.
He handed me his phone without comment.
“You’re dead to me, dickhead!” I bellowed as he walked away.
I took a deep breath, then another and put the phone to my ear.
“Why are you in Savannah?” I demanded.
“You know why I’m in Savannah,” Wrath said.
“Now I know why you were buttering me up with the wine and movie night,” I bit out.
He stayed silent.
“I told you I didn’t want my brother involved,” I continued.
“And I told you I will do anything to protect you, Moonbeam, so if it means your brother has to get involved, then he has to get involved,” Wrath avowed.
“What’s done is done, Wrath,” I pointed out. “You don’t need to protect me from him anymore.”
“Did you, or did you not, shut me out for almost a week because of what you found, due to what that degenerate asshole did to you?”
“I know, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that,” I said. “It was a long time ago.”
“Answer the question, Sierra,” he growled. “Did you, or did younot, shut me out for almost a week because of what you found?”
I squeezed my eyes shut. “Yeah, I did.”
“Okay, so, I’m obviously not done protectin’ you from that degenerate asshole.”
“Wrath—”
“Baby girl, you are failing to realize that you are everything to me. The be all and end all, if you will, and when you hurt, I hurt, so I’m going to make sure you never fuckin’ hurt again.”
I bit back tears. “I’m hurting right now.”
“Yeah, how come?”
“Because you’re not here for me to crawl inside.”
“I’ll be back before you know it,” he promised. “Now, I want you to cancel your flights and stayput.”
I gasped. “How did you know I had flights?”
“The same way I know you hacked into my email.”
I wrinkled my nose. “Rabbit.”
He once again stayed quiet.
“I should have never taught him anything,” I grumbled.
“He would have figured it out on his own eventually,” Wrath said.
“Why didn’t you take me with you?”
“Because if you’re here, I might hesitate.”
