“One that doesn’t ignore their symptoms,”I mimicked in a snotty voice, before bending over and puking in the bowl Dusty had sent with me.

Lord whined and Scooby reached behind us, giving him a pat. “She’s gonna be okay, boy.”

“I’m already okay,” I said to the plastic.

We pulled into the compound and Scooby helped me out of the truck, still insisting on wrapping an arm around my waist as we made our way down to the clinic.

“Oh my god, Crew, Icanwalk.”

Lord was on my other side and if he hadn’t been so freakin’ cute, I might have given him a little dress down for being so protective as well. Although, that’s kind of why he was my main boy.

Scooby banged on the door and Needles pulled it open with a grin. “Heard you can’t keep anything down.”

“Super pregnant. First trimester.” I nodded toward Scooby. “Someone seems to forget that.”

Needles chuckled. “Come on, hop up onto the table. Let’s have a look.”

I handed Scooby the bucket which he held as far away from his face as possible while he walked it over to the sink, and I sat up on the table.

“How about we do a quick ultrasound and see what we can see?” Needles suggested.

“Do you have any experience with babies?” I asked.

“Did my share of rounds in OB/GYN and I’ve delivered a few babies in my time. You’ve got an appointment with your doctor soon, right?”

I nodded. “Next week.”

“Well, this’ll give you and Scooby a little peace of mind until then.”

“That’s true,” I said. “Okay, thanks, Needles.”

Needles did a surprisingly thorough exam and did in fact put my mind at ease. Everything appeared to be perfectly fine. I was healthy, so was the baby. He was, however, concerned with how sick I was. “Who’s your OB?”

“Dr. Miller.”

“Amy Miller?”

“Yes.”

“She’s fantastic,” he mused.

“Yes, that’s what Wyatt said.”

“Would you mind if I give her a call?”

“Now?” I asked.

“Yeah. I really think you need to get on some nausea meds. You can’t keep going like this.”

I sat up slightly. “Are you saying you can get me on some anti-nausea meds now?”

“I can.”

“Oh my word, Needles, why didn’t you just start with that?” I waved my hand. “Call her, my good man.”

He chuckled, pulling out his cell phone and stepping out of the room.

I sat up and reached my hand out. “I need that bucket, honey.”
