But then she pulled back again. “Bennet.” She held his face in her hands to prevent him from kissing her again. “Are you telling me that you’re still a virgin too?”

She didn’t know why she asked. She didn’t actually want to know. Did she? While they’d been engaged at a young age, he’d spent six years apart from her. While some idealistic part of her would like to think he’d remained true during their engagement, he’d been dead to her for the past three.

“I know that I was gone. That you thought I was dead and never coming home. But for me…” He swallowed as he looked down into her eyes. “I never stopped belonging to you.”

Her breathwhooshed from her lungs. His words were so touching…and… She could hardly even think a thought as she rose up and captured his mouth with hers.

But then she broke away, the truth pouring out of her. “I don’t think I ever stopped belonging to you, either.”

He continued pulling the hem of her gown up her legs and over her hips, lifting her up to tug the fabric over her head. And then he slid his lips down her neck, caressing her collarbone, her chest. He worshipped each of her breasts until she was mad with desire.

“My love,” he said as his mouth slid down her stomach. “So much is changed and yet so much is the same. You are so stunning. I only wish…”

Tears once again pricked at the back of her eyes. But her words were lost as his mouth slipped lower, his tongue sliding through her most intimate place.

A riot of sensation made her gasp out his name as she reached for his head, pulling him closer still.

“Bennet.” She breathed his name like air.

He didn’t answer as he slid his tongue against her folds, centering his efforts on the tiny nub of pleasure.

A burst of pleasure made her gasp for breath as her body arched. He reached for her hip, pulling her even closer, increasing the pressure and the pleasure as she moaned out her need.

On and on he made her climb, until she felt dangerously close to tipping over the edge. Only then did he insert a finger into her channel, and then she burst, coming apart into a thousand tiny, beautiful pieces.

She lay there, her body so limp she could hardly even take a full breath of air as he kissed his way back up. “That was stunning,” he growled into her ear.

“You thought so?” He had been on the far less interesting side of the experience.

“I did.”

She forced herself up, knowing full well it was his turn for satisfaction. His breeches were still on, and she slid her hands across his chest, lifting and straddling his hips.

He grabbed her, pulling them together, his eyes drifting closed as he groaned out his pleasure.

“It would be even better if we took off those breeches.” She started to slide back but he held her fast.

“I want to wait.”

Wait? “For what?”

“To be together completely. I want to wait.”

She looked down at him, realizing that he didn’t wish to take her maidenhead. They’d waited for so long, part of her wondered why they would wait any longer, but another part of her agreed.

They had waited for years and years for the moment when they’d be together totally and completely, and somehow, it shouldn’t be a rushed moment but one in which they took all the time to truly appreciate what had been lacking for so long. “I want to kiss you. The way you did me.”

“My darling,” he growled out, tugging at the falls with one hand as the other caressed her hip.

She laughed a little as she moved partially off him and helped him work the fabric open.

His cock sprang up, hard and needy, and her hand automatically gripped him as she bent down to place a soft kiss on the tip.

She missed him so much—his smell, the feel of him over her, under her.

Her lips glided over his member, taking him into her mouth even as he strained up. “Rebecca,” he moaned, his hand twisting into her hair.

She only took in more of him. Over and over until he lost the rhythm, his body growing frantic in his need.
