So, I nodded. I gave in. Agreed.

God help me.

Blowing out a breath, I remind myself what I was doing.

Ah yes, Elias is busy. I take the opportunity to shower in the staff facilities, drying my hair under the hand dryers by the sinks. I’m working on the assumption that if I make an appearance now, updating him on the cabin one VIP, I can spend the rest of the afternoon and evening uninterrupted.

When I knock on the door a second time, Elias invites me in. I school an indifferent expression as I take a seat.

“Winter, how are things going?”

“Good. He enjoyed the mountain,” I tell Maria. “I showed him that lovely restaurant: the Grafton. Then we skied back, and he went to shower and I needed to clean up too. He’s working now, but I need to return.”

“Working on what?” Elias prods.

“I don’t know what his job is unless you’re a mystery shopper on a full-time basis?” If so, it sounds like a great gig, and I should look into it. Luca appears to have stayed in some amazing locations.

“Would you say his mood is positive?”

“Yes,” I tell Elias. “He’s impressed with the cabin and the resort in general. As you know, he’s been complimentary about the food. I make polite conversation and we chat, though there’s not a lot to do. When the other guests arrive tomorrow, it’ll bring a different dynamic to the cabin.”

God knows what’s going to happen when Brecken Sainz and Reuben Moore arrive.

Elias sucks in a relieved breath. “Good. Is there any way to see what he’s working on?”

Frowning, I clarify, “As in snoop through his files? He expressly told me not to tidy those.”

“We can’t risk upsetting him,” Maria, the voice of reason jumps in.

I stand. “I should go. See you tomorrow,” I tell them, hoping they don’t interrupt whatever goes on inside the cabin walls tonight.

Crisp, fluffy snow falls as I make my way towards the eco cabin. Once inside, I lock the door behind me so that even the staff can’t enter without taking the door off. When I glance at the windows, the blinds are drawn, though the long curtains for the patio doors remain tied back at the wall.

The heat from the fire is welcome, orange flames roaring behind the glass a pretty, soothing sight. Aside from the mood-enhancing Christmas tree lights, the space is dark.

The door to the deck is ajar. As I approach, Luca moves through the door, snow-speckled. Wearing black jeans I know are Armani, and a long-sleeved charcoal shirt from Gant, he pulls the door closed behind him, his eyes never leaving mine.

Spending time with him today made everything feel heightened: every breath, every time our eyes met, every movement of his struck me as obscenely provocative and sexual.

I’m unable to resist him.

Slowly, he approaches like I’ll spook. Right now, I feel like bolting, because there is only one way to interpret the look in his eyes.

Carnal.

Hungry.

Luca Wolfford could get me pregnant with just one look. Maybe it’s already happened. Is that why my core feels like it’s no longer under my control, dancing and pulsing like a thing possessed?

My breathing speeds up with every booted step he makes toward me. In just the cabin slippers, I feel the height disadvantage as he towers over me, my face tilting up to his. He’s so tall, and his clean, provocative scent invades my nostrils as he bends his head, skimming the tip of his nose against my cheek. It’s so measured, so in control. My heart thunders in my chest as he brushes kisses across my cheekbone and down towards my parted mouth as I try and suck in as much oxygen as possible. This man makes it difficult to breathe.

A thumb drags against my bottom lip, lingering, pulling it down and releasing it. “Such a pretty mouth.”

Instinctively I lick my lips, his eyes flaring.

“You won’t have to wait long for my cock, Winter. You want it in here, don’t you? Between these gorgeous lips, sliding along your tongue.”

I want him everywhere,bad.
