“Nope.” He smiled and pulled me close to his chest again. “I’ve wanted to kiss you ever since you shot at Bobbi Kesinovic in that archery class.”

I giggled and lightly smacked him on the arm. “That was an accident!”

The heady cocktail buzz was still affecting me, making me a little unsteady on my feet. As I laughed against Nate’s chest, I stumbled and fell to one side, dragging him with me. We landed on the bed with a thump and started laughing even harder.

My legs tangled with Nate’s as we tried to find our bearings, and I somehow ended up rolling onto my back with him on top of me. His laughter suddenly dried up, and he looked down at me, one hand slowly stroking my face. Then he leaned in and kissed me.

I moaned softly and kissed him back, tangling my hands in his thick hair. He cupped my chin with one hand and deepened the kiss, warm lips parting so his tongue could dart into my mouth. His free hand slowly traveled to the left strap of my dress, yanking it over my shoulder. I pulled the right one down, exposing my black lacy bra.

“Jesus,” Nate gritted out, pulling away from the kiss and staring down at me. “You’re so fucking hot, Kinsey.”

He kissed me again, greedily running his hands all over my bare skin, and I mirrored his actions, sliding my fingertips inside his shirt. With every movement our bodies made together, the skirt of my dress hiked farther and farther up my thighs. Soon I felt a distinct hardness brushing up against me. Delicious heat twisted between my legs, and I let out another moan.

Abruptly Nate broke away, chest heaving. “Should I get… you know…” he said huskily, dipping his chin toward the bedside table.

I nodded. “Yes.”

I knew I was a little drunk from all the cocktails I had earlier, but I wasn’t completely smashed. I knew what I was doing and I wanted to do it. I liked sex, and Nate made me feel completely comfortable with everything.

He reached over to open the bedside drawer. Then he fished out a condom and tore the foil wrapper with his teeth. Before he could do anything else, the door opened, and Jax lurched into the room with a bottle of beer dangling from one hand.

“Oops. This isn’t the bathroom,” he said, voice slurring slightly.

“Get out!” I shrieked, scrambling to pull the duvet over myself.

“Sorry. Got a bit lost.” Jax grinned and put his beer down on a chest of drawers near the door. “I guess you won that money, huh? Congrats, man.”

“Fuck off, Jax!” Nate said through gritted teeth as he fumbled with his pants, trying to pull them back up as quickly as possible.

I sat up straight, brows dipping in a frown. “What’s he talking about?”

“Nothing.” Nate looked over at me and gave me a friendly smile. “He’s just drunk and talking shit.”

I stared at Jax, heart thudding painfully in my chest. Something was going on. I knew for a fact that he wasn’t drunk. I’d watched him just as much as he’d watched me tonight, and he hadn’t had a single drink. Also, the beer bottle he put down a second ago was completely full and unopened, like it was just a prop to him.

Why was he in here pretending to be drunk? And what money was he talking about?

“My bad,” he said, lifting his palms. “I saw you two lying there like that and figured you must’ve already sealed the deal.”

“Shut the fuck up!” Nate said. “Seriously, what’s wrong with you, man? Read the fucking room!”

“What’s he talking about, Nate?” I asked in a low voice.

“Nothing, babe. Just ignore him.”

“It’s obviously not nothing,” I said, pulling the straps of my dress back up. I looked over at Jax, who was leaning against the chest of drawers now. Something next to his arm caught my attention, and my eyes widened. “What the fuck, Nate? Is that your phone up there?” I said, jumping off the bed. “Were you filming us?”

“Of course not.” Nate rose to his feet and put a hand on my shoulder. “I left it there earlier. I didn’t want to lose it down at the party.”

“Oh, really? You just happened to leave your phone balanced on its side with the camera pointed at the bed?” I said, wrinkling my nose. “Bullshit. Tell me what’s going on right now!”

Jax chuckled. “Guess the cat’s really out of the bag now,” he said, voice dripping with amusement. “Sorry, man. We might as well tell her.”

“Tell mewhat?” I asked, voice almost cracking with anxiety.

“You fucking asshole,” Nate muttered, shaking his head.

Jax ignored him and held out his phone. “I’m talking about this,” he said. “Open the Dirt app.”
