I guess it wasn’t much of a surprise, because he was so handsome and cool, yet he was over here being nice to me and offering his friendship instead of joining in with the smug Princes, even though he totally could join them if he wanted to. High school was basically one big popularity contest, so most young guys would jump at the chance to be part of a crew like that.
But Adam obviously didn’t care. He didn’t want to sit around talking about tits all day, so he rejected that automatic popularity and hung around with whoever the hell he wanted instead. I liked that about him already.
Trina glanced at her watch. “Shit. Only fifteen minutes until the bell, and you still don’t have your textbooks yet.” She looked up at me. “Let’s go and get them.”
“Okay.” I smiled nervously.
She raised a brow. “Are you ready for your first class?” she asked. “We can probably skip it if you want. We can say we needed extra time to show you around.”
“No, I’ll be fine. Better to take the plunge right away.”
“Great.” Adam grinned and patted me on the back. “Welcome to RFA, Laney. You’re gonna love it here.”
