Ortiz
How’d it go with MacNiven?
Osei
He turned me down.
Ortiz
What’d you do?
Osei
Why do you assume it was me?
Maybe he was the dick.
Ortiz
Dude. I’ve known you since first grade.
Osei
Don’t worry. I’m going to convince him to take me.
Ortiz
How?
Osei
Good question. I’ll let you know when I figure it out. ??

Sheknewit. That Danny boy was a winner.
Lottie pressed her back against the entryway doors of the office, her hands clasped in front of her heart. She hadn’t meant to eavesdrop, but she was glad she had. Despite his questionable appearance and the way he’d interacted with Jamie in the past, he was a good one with a chivalrous streak a mile long.
The way he’d offered to protect Jules… The way he and Jules hadlookedat each other…Be still my heart.Lottie fanned herself.
She had the measure of that boy right—and she was going to help him.
“Lottie? What are you doing?”
She looked up, smiling at Jenna, their new receptionist. “I’m pondering step three.”
“Step three?” Jenna frowned.
Step two was a new wardrobe, which she and Didier were addressing tomorrow. This was the part where she got herself her very own client. Twirling once, she went over to Jenna and patted her arm before heading back to her office to practice what she wanted to say to Jamie.
Bold—she needed to be bold, she decided as she paced back and forth in her office. She had this. She was a winner too, just like everyone else on this team—otherwise, Jamie wouldn’t have wanted to hire her.
It was now or never.
