“No, thanks. I’m not keen on being a third.”

I laughed and clapped him on the shoulder. “Come on. I told her I’d set up her sister, and she said, and I quote, ‘bring me the British one or no dice.’”

“Well, I guess it’s no dice. Cheers, mate.”

Byrne stood and stripped down before walking to the showers. He’d come around. He owed me. So I got cleaned up and waited, snagging his phone while I was at it. It seemed our resident Sassenach had a real thing for red lipstick.

“What?” he asked when he emerged.

“Oh, nothing, but... you really shouldn’t leave your phone lying around. And onMeet-Cupidno less. Who is Elles?”

“I’m going to kill you.”

I smirked as I recalled the updated profile bio I’d given him while he was showering.

Professional knobhead, has a shamefully small willie but is surprisingly good with his tongue. Come on, lassies, have pity on this poor sod.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” My smile only grew as he tapped the screen and his brows drew together. “Savage, you fucking changed my password? How did you know what it was in the first place?”

“You are nothing if not predictable. Now if you want to know how to change it back...”

Ethan sighed.“Fine. I’ll go with you. But one Harry Potter reference, and I’m out of there.”

“I just need you for five minutes.”

“Five?”

“Five. Just enough time to prove to her I’m good on my word, and then you can go.”

Fifteen minutes later, Byrne walked through the pub door and joined the girls and me.

“There he is! Byrne, get over here, you sad excuse for a center.” I held out a pint for him, hoping he realized how important this was to me.

“All right, all right, I’m here. You don’t have to announce it to the world, mate.”

“This is Scarlett. My Becca’s little sister.”

“By one year. I’m not that much older than her,”

“And just to be clear, that age is over twenty-one since you’re here in a pub, yeah?” Byrne grumbled the question like the old codger he was.

“Oh, come on, old man.”

“I’m twenty-six, Scar’s twenty-five,”

“Do you need to see my ID?” Scarlett asked, a teasing note in her voice.

“Nah, I’m good. Just making sure. You never know these days.”

“So you’re a center?” Scarlett’s question was sweet and innocent, but Byrne couldn’t have been less interested.

“Yeah.”

“Cool. I don’t know a lot about hockey. Just enough to get by when Clara invites us to games.”

“Clara?”

“Our older sister,” Becca supplied.
