“She doesn’t control me. What she does is make an effort to understand me. Not at first, I’ll admit, because I’m cantankerous and made some shitty mistakes, treated her like shit. But she didn’t give up on me, and every day, I let her in a little more. That’s real love, fellas.”
Simon swirled the liquid around in his glass. “So you’re a sap now too?”
“Shut up.” I swallowed my drink in one hit.
Lamar rolled his eyes at me. “He doesn’t get it.”
I laughed quietly.
“Bullshit, lads. I understand entirely. I know how women are, how they get into your brain and work their wily ways on us unsuspecting blokes until we’re twisted into a fucking ball of craziness. They’re witches, the lot of them. Men, on the other hand…”
I straightened up. “Whoa, wait. What?” I couldn’t stop my reaction.
Simon waved his finger at me. “Don’t judge me, mate. Men don’t play games. They want to fuck, they fuck. They want to fuck me? Even better. We leave it at that. We walk away afterward with no strings, no whiny texts the next day about when we’re going to call each other. Simple, easy, fun.”
Lamar cleared his throat. “I’ve been dating the wrong blokes, then.”
Now my mouth dropped open as my line of sight passed between them.
Simon pinned me with a glare. “You got a problem with that, kiddo?”
“Not at all. My baby brother is bisexual. I never realized you weren’t straight, though, Si.”
“Neither did I until I tried. I wasn’t planning anything. It happened one night when I was drowning my sorrows over my ex. I thought what happened was a drunken, one-time thing, you know? Then I did it again and again.” Simon shrugged. “I enjoy it, ‘nuff said. I thought I might be gay, but I’ve slept with enough women to know I’m still attracted to them as well. Damn witches. Conclusion… I’m bisexual like your brother.”
“Welcome to the party, friend. So am I.” Lamar wiped a drop of scotch from his lip. “After that revelation, I’m out, lads. Time to go home and get warm. Thanks for the drop and have a great Christmas, yeah? You’ll be moving in, in no time.”
“Cheers, Lamar.” I raised my drink to the realtor.
“Yeah, mate.” Simon nodded. “We hope to see you back here soon. You got it? Make sure you become a regular, Lamar.”
“I certainly won’t be a stranger.” Lamar picked up his briefcase and stepped out of the kitchen. A moment later, the sound of the front door opening and closing could be heard.
Simon’s brow creased in the middle. “I’m not sure why I outed myself in front of our realtor.”
I placed the cap back on the scotch. “You also invited him to dinner.”
“Bullshit.”
“Notbullshit. I think you like him.”
Simon studied me closely for a long time. “You honestly don’t have a problem with me fucking guys?”
“Why do you keep asking me that?”
“Because a lot of people do. Guys, generally. Women don’t seem to be as bothered about it.”
I flashed him a devilish smirk. “That’s because women know they can still get in the middle of the action.”
“Witches, I tell you.”
“Si, trust me. There is nothing hotter than seeing the woman you care about get fucked by multiple guys.”
Simon widened his eyes. “You and Lou are into that?”
“Damn straight.”
“Well, shit. She sounds like a fun chick. Maybeshe’snot a witch.”
