Marisol’s smiled faded. “Do you want me to tell you?”

“Do you feel like you should?”

After a thoughtful moment, Marisol shook her head. “Not really. Not because I don’t trust you, but because I don’t want to give it power. It’s already screwed up my life for too long. I don’t want that shadow anywhere near this. Near…us.”

“I like that we’re us.” He eased off the steps and moved toward her, needing her back in his arms.

“Me too.” She hugged him tight, a relieved sigh escaping her chest. “Thank you for bringing me here. I really do feel like things are going to be different. That I’m going to be different.”

“Don’t be too different,” he said, his body responding to the feel of her breasts pressed against his chest no matter how firmly he told his cock now wasn’t the time. “I like you the way you are.”

“I like you the way you are, too.” She kissed his neck before laughing softly against his damp skin. “You’re the sweetest sex fiend I’ve ever met. I can’t believe you’re already hard again.”

“I apologize,” he said. “I can’t seem to help myself. You do things to me Ms. Medina.”

“There’s no need to apologize, Mr. Lawson,” she said with a wicked grin as she reached down, wrapping her fingers around his rapidly thickening length. “Unless you don’t plan to fuck me again, and then I’m going to need a hand-written apology. And flowers. And a box of chocolates to ease my pain and suffering.”

“I would never make you suffer,” he said, urging her legs around his waist beneath the water, moaning as his cock came into intimate contact with her heat. “And I will fuck you as often as you’ll let me. Just let me get a condom.”

“Hurry,” she said, nipping at his bottom lip as he left her arms.

He crossed the pool in two long strides and slid onto the bank, ripping open the condom and sliding it on before he eased back into the water to sit on the second step. “Come here,” he said, reaching for Marisol. “I want to kiss your breasts while you ride me.”

“Yes, sir,” she whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck as she parted her legs, impaling herself on his cock with a wiggle of her hips that made his vision blur.

“God, woman, you feel like heaven,” he said, pressing a kiss to the underside of her breast before cupping both of her mounds in his hands and bringing them to his mouth, kissing her nipple with his next words, “I’m never going to get enough of you.”

“Yes,” she sighed, threading her fingers through his hair and holding on tight, riding him faster as he worshipped her beautiful breasts, laying claim to his heart as she came crying his name, making those two syllables he’d never cared for sound like the most beautiful word in the world.

To everyone else, he was Bubba, the good old boy they could always trust, but to this woman, he was so much more. He was her Robert, and he knew right then he never wanted to be anyone else’s.

CHAPTERTWELVE

It was a brand new day,in every sense of the word.

Wednesday morning Marisol woke up smiling and stretched luxuriously, glowing with happiness despite the aches and pains in muscles that were no longer accustomed to ranch work, or rolling around on rocks making love for hours on end with the sexiest man alive.

Robert.

Just thinking his name was enough to make her tingle all over and her smile stretch even wider.

When they’d left Austin Sunday morning, she never would have imagined they’d be a couple a few days later. And even if she’d been able to wrap her mind around such a possibility, she wouldn’t have believed she was capable of entering into a relationship with an open heart or a peaceful mind. She would have thought she’d be a nervous wreck, a tweaked out love junkie waiting for the other shoe to fall.

But she would have been wrong.Wrong, wrong, wrong!

She’d never been so happy to be wrong, and she couldn’t remember the last time she had woken up feeling so completely at peace with the world. Despite the fact that Robert’s mother couldn’t stand her and would probably give her the cold shoulder again over breakfast, she felt like she was exactly where she was supposed to be. She could barely force herself to take the time to get dressed and brush her hair and teeth before skipping down the hall to Robert’s room.

She was lifting her hand to knock on his door, visions of sneaking in to join him for a morning cuddle dancing through her head, when two big arms enfolded her from behind and Robert’s heavenly scent surrounded her.

“Good morning, gorgeous,” he whispered into her neck as he kissed her. “I was beginning to think you’d never wake up.”

“It’s only seven,” she said, turning in his arms and smiling up at him.

“I’ve been up since five-thirty,” he said. “I was dreaming about you, and then I woke up and you weren’t in bed with me and I was too pissed off about it to go back to sleep.”

She laughed beneath her breath as she cast a cautious glance up and down the hall to make sure they were alone. “It’s only for a few more days. Then you can sleep over in my bed anytime you like.”

“That sounds like heaven,” he said, pulling her closer, until every delicious inch of him was pressed against her and her already humming body began to sing. “But you’d better be careful about making open-ended invitations, or you just might find yourself with a new roommate.”
