The man's lips twitched slightly, clearly knowing why Max wanted that, but he pulled his expression together. "Of course, sir."

Max looked at me. "What do you say? Champagne and a Vegas tour by night?"

I nodded, even though I couldn't imagine there'd be anything I'd see that was impressive. Hopefully, with the privacy screen in place, I wouldn't be looking at the scenery. I would be looking into Max's gorgeous green eyes.

Max helped me into the limo and pulled out the champagne, popping the cork and pouring us each a flute.

The driver got into the front seat, and before raising the privacy screen, he asked, “Would you like me to point out attractions on the tour, or should I just drive?"

Max looked at me and said, "Just drive."

I wanted to down the champagne and then rip his clothes off and straddle him in the back seat of the limo. It was crazy how this man affected me. I've been in a limo before, once with another man, but I never wanted to jump him.

Max held up his glass of champagne. "To Vegas by night with the most beautiful woman in Vegas."

A woman could get used to a man speaking to her and looking at her the way Max did to me.Too bad he’s leaving tomorrow. No, I couldn’t think that. Instead, I had to focus on this being a lovely moment in time.

I clicked my glass against his. "And with the sexiest tourist in Vegas."

He sipped the bubbly, his green eyes sparkling at me over his glass. When he pulled it away from his lips, he said, "So, you think I'm sexy?"

I waggled my brows. "I know you are.”

We drank our champagne, and then Max leaned over, giving me a kiss.

I felt warm and sensuous, and yet at the same time, my head was foggy and I felt tired. I suppose it wasn’t unexpected with half a bottle of wine, a glass of Guinness, and now a glass of champagne. I felt okay getting in the limo, but perhaps the champagne was too much?

Max gave his head a quick shake and pressed his thumb and his forefinger to his closed eyes.

"Are you okay? I asked.

He looked at me and smiled. His eyes were slightly glazed. "Sure. All of a sudden, I feel a little tired. I guess that champagne was one glass too many."

"I feel the same."

He tugged me close, pulling me onto his lap. "Being tired hasn't dimmed my need to taste you."

His lips were on mine, sweet and soft. I could taste the champagne even as the fog seeped deeper, denser into my brain. I was vaguely aware of his erection pressing against the back of my thighs as I sat on his lap.

Max pulled away from the kiss. "Maybe we should go back to the hotel."

I nodded, even though I wasn't sure if he meant we should go back to the hotel because I was very nearly half asleep or to have sex. Either reason worked for me.

As Max reached over to press the intercom button to tell our driver to take us back to the hotel, I rested my head on his shoulder. Then everything went black.

CHAPTERFIVE

Max

Slowly, I awoke from a heavy sleep. It felt like my head was full of cotton. As awareness came to me, I opened my eyes. Amelia was asleep next to me. I was spooned around her luscious body and my arm was draped over her.

I frowned as I noted that she was dressed. In fact, I was too. I scanned my brain for memories of the night before, but my mind was blank. I took her to dinner at the Roarke, ridiculously happy that she’d said yes to the date, even as I told myself that it didn’t mean anything more than two people enjoying time together.

Afterward, we were in a limo, and I had visions of fucking her as the lights of Las Vegas drifted by. Had we done that? I couldn’t remember. In fact, I couldn’t remember anything after pulling her into my lap. I must have drunk more than I thought. I hoped she wasn’t mad. Geez, had she been the one to drag me up to bed? How embarrassing.

Maybe I could make up for it now. I ran my hand down her hip, over her thigh, and up again. She had great curves.

I leaned forward, pressing my lips against the back of her neck, nibbling. She shuddered, making me smile.
