He murmurs the words inches from my lips. My tongue darts out to wet them and he groans.

“If you don’t want this, tell me now.”

I hold my breath for a moment, then two. This could ruin everything, but I find I can’t make myself care.

“I want it,” I whisper. The words are barely out of my mouth before his lips crash down onto mine. Someone moans and I don’t know if it’s him or me.

His lips taste like lemon from the limoncello drinks we had at the last bar. We had spent all night wandering Rome and drinking, admiring the sights.

His tongue sweeps into my mouth, deepening the kiss. Our bodies press together, and I can feel his arousal against my stomach pressing into me. None of this feels real, as if it is all a dream.

“Harper,” he whispers my name like a prayer.

“Yes Owen?” I ask, looking up into is beautiful blue eyes.

“Be with me tonight.” An electric shiver moves through my body and before I can stop myself, I’m answering him.

“Yes, Owen I will be with you tonight.”

Chapter 6

Owen

“Iknow this is a bad idea. Harper and I, we are oil and water outside of work. I don’t know if it is the years of tension, or because I finally came to my senses when seeing her with another man… I don’t know what it is, but there is a fire in my veins for her right now. If I’m honest with myself, there has been for years. Every time the thought even crossed my mind, I shoved it away. We were a team, a work team, and anything outside of that we bickered constantly. She was my nemesis, and the only reason I kept her around is because she was an excellent assistant. She had been more of a partner for at least two years, and I finally wised up enough to give her the promotion that she deserves.

Anytime she went on vacation I was fiercely lonely without her. Every time she talked about a date it made me just a bit jealous. Now I was ready to admit that for what it was. I’ve wanted her in my life as more than just my assistant for a long time. Maybe since the first day she walked into my office and opened that sassy mouth.

“Are you sure that you want this?” I ask her, as westumble out of the elevator into the suite.

The only light in the room the big moon shining through the wall of glass that brought the romance of Rome inside with us.

She doesn’t say anything, just reaches behind her and unzips the dress, letting it fall to the floor.

Then she reaches up and takes her hair out of its complicated style, as all of that red silk rushes around her face and my mouth goes dry.

She stands there in a barely-there bra and panty set, the moonlight caressing her creamy skin.

“Does that answer your question?” Her signature eyebrow lift and a sassy smile on her face.

I take one step forward, my hands diving in to all that hair, and bring her mouth to mine, crushing her soft lips in a kiss that leaves little doubt what I have planned for her.

She presses her body with its lush curves against me and I can feel every curve, every swell as a permanent brand.

My mouth assaults her, my lips slanting over hers again and again, swallowing her moans.

She grabs my shirt, ripping it open, the sounds of buttons bouncing off the marble floor like an explosion in the silent room.

She hitches her legs around my hips, still wearing her heels as I walk us back toward the bedroom.

I throw her on the bed and she bounces a little, laughing and giving me that sassy smile.

I get rid of my ruined shirt and the rest of my clothes. She watches, those green eyes alight with desire.

“Owen,” My name spills from her lips as a husky promise.

I might be the CFO, but it doesn’t mean I don’t take care of my body.

I crawl onto the bed lifting one of her long legs and look up along her body into her eyes.
