Her cry echoed in the space, both of us panting.

“I’ve waited for four years, malysh,” I said finally, sitting back on my heels. “I can wait a little longer.”

“I’m sorry,” she gasped out. “I want this. It’s just…”

“Talk to me.”

“It’s been a really long time,” she confessed.

“How long are we talking about?”

Her cheeks reddened, and I wanted to take her right there and then — she looked good enough to eat. She’d asked me to wait, though, and I would.

“It’s been years,” she said, then abruptly covered her face with her hands. “God, you probably think I’m so naive.”

“Sadie, stop.” I managed to get her to uncover her face, stroking her soft curls. “The only thing I think you are is beautiful. Desirable. I don’t care who you’ve been with or who you haven’t been with.”

“But you’ve been with so many more…”

I scowled as a tear slipped down her cheek. I hated to see her cry — always had. “Why do you keep bringing this up?”

“The way you touch me … the way you move your tongue.” Sadie’s short laugh was full of self-loathing. “Even back when we had sex for the first time. You’re so much more experienced.”

“You were my first, malysh.”

“You don’t have to pretend.”

“I’m not pretending. I’m not lying. Look at me.” She reluctantly raised those hazel eyes to meet mine. They were more green than anything right now, her tears staining their color. “You think I’m some kind of womanizer?”

“Where else did you learn everything that you do to me?”

I rocked back from her, laughing incredulously. Now, I was the one who was embarrassed. “Are we really going to have this discussion?” She looked so miserable that I decided there was no other choice. “All right. I did a lot of research, okay? I wanted to make sure that it was good for you, so I read a ton.”

“You read about how to give oral sex?”

I shrugged. “I’m sure practical experience is better, but it was good, wasn’t it?”

“Good?” Sadie stared at me. “It was great.”

“Everything I do is for you,” I told her. “Everything, malysh.”

“I’m sorry,” she said. “I’m so freaking insecure about every little thing. It’s awful and annoying and just … don’t pay attention to me.”

“All I want to do is pay you attention.” I smiled for her. “And you don’t know what it’s doing for my ego to hear you say that you’re actually jealous of me.”

Sadie reached for a pillow and smacked me with it. “Stop it. Jealousy is such an ugly trait.”

“I think it’s cute. Gratifying.”

I leaned over and kissed her, taking the pillow away from her so she couldn’t hit me again.

Sadie wiped her face. “Well, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I think we should continue.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Continue? You’re going to have to be a little more specific.”
