He got home in time to shower and head out. He drove himself across town to his favorite barbershop. He had been going to the store for over ten years. He received excellent service and happened to really like his barber.

"Devlin." Max, who ran the store, gave him a giant smile throwing his arms up. "I haven't seen you in a while. How are you?"

"I need a good trim up," he said, giving him a smile. "I have a date tonight, and I need it to go well."

He watched as Max's brows went up. "A date? Wow, it's been a while since you've cleaned yourself up for something like that. Must be a special lady."

"You have no idea." He really needed this date to go well.

Max clipped his hair and trimmed his neck up. Max made sure everything was perfect, which gave him a solid twenty minutes to drive a few blocks to have his pedicure. He knew that he would get a few weird looks. But he didn't care. Women always told him they preferred a man with clean nails, and since learning that fact, he'd put it to good use.

He was at the jewelry store at noon and scanned the area, trying to find something he could see Kate wearing. He wanted to buy her something she could remember him by, and he wanted to show her just how much he liked her.

He sighed, finding nothing that screamed at him. He was about to give up when his eyes landed on something in the case. It was a small necklace with a bright butterfly. It was a bright purple with a hint of blue in it. He narrowed his eyes on it and realized that it would be perfect to match with the earrings he'd seen her wear. He smiled, knowing they were the perfect gift.

"Sir." He pulled his hand up, catching a worker's attention. He pointed down at the necklace. "I will take this and wrap it up, please."

He pulled up to Kate's house five minutes early. He was wearing a nice suit and gelled his hair neatly. He looked and felt confident.

He smiled proudly as he got out of the car, holding all the items he'd purchased for Kate. He bought her a large bouquet of flowers that were locally grown and wrapped in some fancy paper. He had bought a large box of chocolates that were infused with wine. And the necklace that he had them wrap up with a bright little bow on top.

He rang the doorbell, and twenty seconds later, the door opened. Kate stood there with her hair curled, with half of it pinned back. She was wearing a fitted purple dress that made her breasts look ready to burst free. The dress hugged her tightly, allowing him to see every curve on her body.

He felt his insides stir, drinking her in. He could definitely see himself falling for her more and more each day. He would never tire of seeing her.

"Wow." Her eyes widened. "You uhh ... wow." Her eyes bounced from him down to everything in his arms.

He smiled, holding them out. "I wanted to get you something nice." He handed her the flowers and the chocolates.

She took them, pulling the door open a little more. "Thank you. Uh, come in for a second. I just need to grab my purse and my swimming gear. Let me put the flowers in some water."

He stepped into her entryway as she walked away with the flowers and the chocolate. He dug around for the necklace. He snapped his gaze up as he could hear her heels hitting the hardwood floor. She walked back toward him, holding her purse.

He held out the necklace, still smiling. Her smile slipped a little. "Devlin, you didn't need to get me anything. Honestly, the flowers were enough."

He shook his head. "No, this just screamed you, and I couldn't leave it there. Open it."

He watched her open it, and her eyes widened. He waved a hand. "I thought it would go nicely with those butterfly earrings you've worn."

She smiled at her, looking pleased. "Well, thank you. You want to clasp it on for me?"

She turned and pulled her hair up. He swallowed, taking in her exposed shoulder and neck. This was an angle he could enjoy fucking her at. He could see himself pulling her hair back as he rammed her from behind. He could also hear her yelling his name as she came.

He quickly shook his head, needing to focus. He slid the necklace on and clasped it. She dropped her hair, and he watched her bring a hand up and place it over the butterfly. It made his heart skip a beat. She liked it.

She turned, and he smiled, seeing it on her. He was right. It did look good.

"Shall we?" he said, pulling the door open, excited to take her out. He looked forward to their date.

They drove across town until they hit the river, where the party was being held on a yacht. The event was already in full swing, with people on the boat and on the dock enjoying themselves. He couldn't help that his excitement grew.

His driver let them off, and they headed down to the boat. He could tell Kate was nervous, and he tried to calm her nerves. "You'll have such a fun time once we get on board. We can dance a little and chat." He pulled her into his arms, giving her a reassuring squeeze. He hoped it helped.

She swallowed, looking around. "Nice boat. Who's throwing the event?"

He looked for his buddy but couldn't find him. He was hoping to maybe introduce her. "A friend of mine, and all the proceeds are going to a charity."

She looked around as they stepped onto the boat taking everything in. Music boomed, the bar was fully packed with people ordering, and everyone was dancing and drinking. He could safely say it was going really well.
