"But you will if you stay. He will never betray you and he will always keep you safe. We all will," he told me.

I smiled at him and then leaned my head on his shoulder.

"Thank you," I whispered.

"For?"

"For being my friend," I said. "I know what I want now."

Chapter 37

-Dominic-

After my little talk with Arianna, I needed to talk to Damon hoping he could help me calm down, and maybe help me find a solution to my problems. He didn't live that far away, luckily, and I quickly parked in front of his mansion. I had texted him saying I was on my way, and he was the one to open the door, a small smile on his lips as he allowed me inside. We sat down in the living room on the first floor. He got us both something to drink before he sat down in front of me.

"You look like you are having a shitty night," he said.

I smiled a little, sipping my drink.

"Something like that ..." I sighed.

"What is it?" he asked.

"I went to talk to Arianna. To make some things clear," I told him.

He sighed and scratched the back of his neck.

"Let me guess ... it didn't go well," he said.

I shook my head.

"It is going to be damn hard to convince them of Lara being my queen without them coming for her or me," I said.

He nodded, knowing I was right.

"You know I don't care," he said.

I knew and nodded as well.

"I have known you for quite a while, and I know your life hasn't always been easy, and it is no lie we need a queen. We haven't had one in too long," he said. "Which is why I really don't care whom you choose, as long as you can endure the rest of your life with her."

That made me chuckle a little. Lara was difficult but easy was just not fun. At least not for me. I liked her fire.

"Not everyone will look at it this way. They will think more about our blood being mixed, than the fact we need a queen," I said.

"Which is why you need more supporters," he said.

I sighed.

"Do please tell me how I get that?"

"You stop hiding," he said.

I groaned annoyed.

"You can't keep letting them have all the power. You are king for Goddess's sake. Act like it," he said. "You never heard your father apologize for anything did you?"

"My father could be kind of a jerk," I said.
