He had light blond hair, while the king and the other, both had raven black, and his playful dark eyes, which only hybrids were born with ran over both me and the king before going to the jewelry on the ground.
"What do we have here?" he asked in a playful but dark voice.
I didn't dare look at any of them. I felt like I got smaller under their eyes. Stupid hybrids! I just wanted to get out of there, but I was trapped, and even if I tried to run, I knew I would easily be caught.
"A thief," the king said.
"A thief?" the other repeated.
"And a half-blood."
His voice lowered as if he somehow liked the taste of the word, but I knew that couldn't be true. There were so few half-bloods out there, and they were always looked down at. We couldn't be trusted, yet they never specified with what. They just didn't like us. We were lower than humans, and it was not unheard of that a half-blood had been hunted and killed just for the fun of it. It was why I never walked alone at night, and why I always tried to mask my half-blood scent with perfumes and by staying close to other humans. As long as I was among them, I could hide, but I was alone tonight and surrounded by only supernatural people, and at the moment hybrids, and you couldn't trick a hybrid ... So, it wouldn't have mattered anyway if a human had been here tonight. He would have sniffed me out anyway.
I lifted my eyes enough to see the other two looking at me like I was some rare little thing that they couldn't believe they were seeing, and I hated it. I just wanted to be left alone. Was that too much to ask for?
"A thief and a half-blood, well what are we going to do with her?" the playful one asked.
The king reached down, while still holding onto me, and picked up everything before tossing the bag and jewelry over to the other one.
"Give that back," he said. "I will handle this one myself."
I didn't like how he said that. What was he going to do with me? My entire body shivered under his dark gaze, and I almost didn't want the other two to leave, but they did, and I was left alone with the king.
"W-What are you going to do to me?" I stammered.
He just smiled even crueler, and then started to pull me with him. He pulled me over to a huge parking lot where all the cars were parked. He pulled out a pair of car keys from his jacket and unlocked one of them. I tried digging my heels into the ground, as I realized he was going to take me with him to ... who knew where?! I couldn't let that happen.
"No!" I said and leaned back, even if it did nothing. "I won't go with you!"
But then he stopped and just turned around. I looked at him confused when suddenly he leaned down and picked me up before throwing me over his shoulder.
"Hey!" I yelled and slammed my hands into his back. "This is kidnapping!"
He didn't listen to me, and just walked over to the passenger seat and threw me inside before closing the door. I was about to open it when he started to walk around the car, but just as I did, a big body pressed itself closer to my back and a hand reached over and grabbed the door slamming it shut. I screamed a little and turned around, seeing the king. How had he gotten in here so fast?
I quickly pressed myself up against the door, getting as far away as I could from him, as he leaned back in his seat and got the car moving.
"Just let me go," I said quietly. "Just stop the car and let me go."
He didn't listen to me as he drove down the dark roads. Where was he taking me? My entire body was shaking and my heart was beating so fast inside my chest it that hurt. I felt dizzy yet refused to let myself be affected. I couldn't show weakness.
"Listen no one has to know," I said. "So, I stole a few things. It is not like I killed someone."
I had no idea what I was saying. I just wanted to get out of there, but clearly, he wasn't listening to me.
"Please!"
But nothing worked. He seemed to have made up his mind, and I didn't like that. As a half-blood, I was no match for him, and no one would even care what he did to me. He could make me his little plaything if he wanted to do that, or he could kill me and dump my body somewhere, and no one would punish him for it. It was sick, but it was the truth.
"You are kidnapping me!" I said. "My family will be worried!"
I lied ... My father wouldn't really care. To him I was air. I could disappear and he would probably not even notice.
"Are you listening to me? My family will be worried! And ... And I have school. My teachers will know and friends!"
I barely had anyone I could call friends, and I had to drop out of school last year since I couldn't afford it. And because I was a half-blood, I had learned to keep my head down and blend into the shadows. No one would really notice I was gone, and when they finally did, it was most likely too late to even do anything about it, but I had nothing else to argue with ... I had to make him see that it was not a good idea to take me with him.
"Hey! Stop the car!"
