"Hey, how did it go?" he asked, as he saw me.

"Where is she?"

He could without a doubt hear the growl that was stuck in my chest. I was just so damn desperate to see her, that I couldn't stop myself.

"Kitchen," he said. "She got hungry the little queen."

I quickly walked out of the living room and then walked down the hallway until I arrived at the kitchen. She was hidden a little behind the door in the fridge, looking for some food. She must have heard me though or sensed I was there because she pushed back and looked around the door.

"You're back," she said, not sounding overly excited, but at least she didn't come with a snarky comment like she liked to do.

I hurried over to her, her eyes on me the whole time, before I quickly grabbed her, wrapping an arm around her waist, pressing her to me, while placing my other hand on the side of her neck and then kissing her hungrily. Everything in me calmed down the second my lips were on hers, though another part of me got quite excited. I couldn't think about that right now. All I could think about was her. She was right here in my arms. Where she belonged. At first, she seemed a bit hesitant, but just before I pulled back, I felt her respond to me.She looked at me confused though, as I pulled back, not far though. I didn't want there to be more than a few inches between us.

"Something happened?" she asked, probably trying to figure out why I had kissed her like that.

A small smile spread on my lips.

"Not much," I said.

"So, you just wanted to kiss me?"

"You're my mate. I should always greet you like this."

I had only been gone for a few hours. It was hard to believe though, that a few hours could make me this desperate to see her, but they did.

"I think we should both agree on that," she said and crossed her arms as if to create a wall in front of herself.

"This, we aren't arguing about," I said, shaking my head.

"Why not?"

"Because I won't budge on this. This is how I will always greet you."

Her cheeks seemed to get a little redder, and even though she wouldn't admit it, I could see she liked the idea. Lara just needed to grow a little more comfortable around me, and then she would not argue with me at all about this. She would enjoy it, and she would respond to me every time.

"I heard someone paid you a visit," I said.

Lara looked away from me, staring into the fridge. To make sure she would focus on me, I closed it and as expected she turned back to me, looking a little annoyed.

"Well?" I said.

"If you already know this, I expect you know everything about the visit and who it was," she said.

So smart, my little mate, and I couldn't help but smile.

"I don't know the details of it."

"Could you let me go?"

I shook my head, and instead lifted her into the counter. She looked at me surprised and tried wiggling away, but I placed myself in between her legs, keeping her in place.

"No," I said, with a smug smile.

"Let me go!"

I shook my head.

"Tell me about the visit."
