"You will learn to love the night," he said.
"I am half-human, half-wolf. It isn't normal," I said.
"Screw normal."
I sighed, wanting to just pull my hair out. Why did he have to make it so difficult?! I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. I couldn't let this get to me. Win him over, I told myself. That was my job. To win him over. I had to do that on his terms.
"Fine ..." I said. "I guess I will find a way to get used to it."
He smiled and then turned around, as he started to button the white shirt he had put on.
"See how easy it is when you don't fight me on everything."
I glared at him, wanting to just give him the finger, but I also knew that was not how I won him over. I had to just swallow my pride.
"I wouldn't say easy," I said.
He chuckled, as he continued to button his shirt. Why was he looking at me like that? He made it very hard to just stand there. I felt like walking around because his eyes were so intense. I couldn't even look at them because it looked like he wanted to devour me.
"Stop that!" I told him.
"What?" he asked innocently.
Oh, he knew exactly what he was doing.
"You know what!"
He chuckled and then walked over to me. I took a small step back, just out of instinct, but he just placed himself in front of me, not even touching me.
"Hungry?" he asked.
I swallowed hard, just making sure my voice wouldn't fail me.
"A little."
That was a lie. I was quite hungry actually.
"Want to shower first?" he asked.
I nodded because I couldn't get the wordyesout.
"I will wait."
It was like I didn't even register he said it at first. It wasn't until he raised an eyebrow, silently asking me what I was doing, that I noticed he had said something.
"Right ... I will just go ... shower," I said and turned away from him.
I went to my bag and got some clothes. I was so relieved when I finally closed the bathroom door and was able to create some much-needed distance between us. What the hell was he doing to me?!
Chapter 25
-Dominic-
Lara fought me as I placed her on my lap again, but as I had already pointed out to her, she had lost the privilege to sit in her own chair and eat.
"Just let me have my own chair!" she said.
I shook my head and chuckled as she tried wiggling out of my hold. It didn't help her at all. She was just wasting energy, but it was fun to watch.
