"Are you sure?" he teased me.

I nodded, my voice not working.

"Very well," he said and moved back. "Sleep well."

He walked around the couch and looked like he was heading out.

"Wait. Where are you going?" I asked confused, as I looked over my shoulder.

"Want me to come and sleep next to you?" he joked, as he reached the door.

I shook my head, as he looked back at me.

"Then go to sleep. Nothing will happen to you here," he assured me.

He didn't say anything else, and the door just locked behind him. I got up from the couch and walked over to the door. I grabbed the handle and gently pushed it down while turning the lock. I looked out into the empty hallway confused. Why would he just leave like that? Confused and a bit scared, I closed it again. Was he watching me with hidden cameras, I wondered, as I looked around. Or maybe he had someone waiting in the lobby, just waiting to see me running by. Or maybe! Maybe he was waiting for me himself, testing me.

I groaned deeply, pressing a hand to my forehead, as too many theories ran through me. Or maybe this was his plan. To psych me out.He was not dumb that hybrid,I thought, as I walked back to the bedroom, and got under the covers. Good thing I was a light sleeper, so I would wake up the second he got back ... if he even got back. He had not told me where he was going. He just said we were leaving early tomorrow, and on so high alert I had been all day and most of the night, I didn't believe I would get much sleep.

Still, I laid down and closed my eyes, and it seemed I had been dead wrong about not going to sleep, because the second my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light.

Chapter 14

-Dominic-

I had to go out. I couldn't even be in the same hotel suite with her, so much I wanted her. It was strange that for so many years, I had not cared at all about claiming someone as mine. I had never really wanted much to do with any female, except for letting them help scratch an itch, but it was different with Lara. I actually wanted her more than I could say, and that might just be why I was the most dangerous person for her. I had no idea if I could hold myself back, or if I might break her. She was a lot more fragile, and I never wanted to be the reason why she got hurt. Which was why I really hoped she wasn't planning anything.

Lara was on the run, clearly.

From what though?

I wasn't sure yet, but I would find out.Whoever tried hurting her, would have to go through me, and they would not come out alive. They were stupid to think, they could ever get their hands on what belonged to me!

Yet I was not a very patient person either, and if Lara was planning on testing that patience, she might find herself quite sorry and unable to sit down for a while. It was not a good idea to test me, and everything in me just knew she would. She was not like the rest. She didn't want to bow to me. She might keep her head and eyes down in order to protect herself, but she was not about to be bullied into submission.

It surprised me how much she was able to fight me and speak back to me. It surprised me, even more, when she actually dared to run from the party. No one else would have tried that, because if they had, they most likely wouldn't have been alive long after, yet she had done it, and she was still very much alive.

It almost brought a smile to my lips. My little half-blood mate was very brave, and the fire that burned in her, I just wanted to see it used for something better than fighting me. I wanted to see her come apart beneath me again. I craved tasting her again, but I might not be able to hold myself back, and it was clear she wasn't going to let me close ... for now. The little wolf would come around eventually. I would make sure of it.

"I don't think you should bring her."

I turned to my left seeing Ace had appeared. It was normal he would appear out of the blue. Even I would often not hear him coming.

He sat down beside me at the bar on the ground floor of the hotel. It was rather quiet here, so late at night, but it was nice. It was easier to think when there weren't a lot of people making a lot of noise.

"What?"

"You heard me," he said, only glancing at me, but facing the alcohol in front of us.

I turned to look at him waiting for him to elaborate, but of course, he didn't. You had to ask him for an explanation, and even then, he might just not give you one.

"Is Gabriel sleeping?" I asked.

"He's out like a light," Ace said.

His voice never really changed. It just stayed in the same neutral tone. It could be quite unnerving, but I had known him for a very long time, and I trusted him with my life. He just hadn't had it as easy as others. Even though he had been born a hybrid, he had not gotten an easy start in life.

"Why shouldn't I take her?" I finally asked. "She is my mate."
