I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I turned my head, seeing Ace looking at me, telling me with his dark eyes to relax a little, so I could let Renly speak. It took me a few seconds though before I was able to loosen my hold. Renly coughed like crazy, wrapping his own hands around his neck, as I moved a step back. He was bent a little forward, trying to get the sweet air into his lungs, but I was impatient and wanted answers.
"Well?" I asked.
I stepped a little closer and Renly backed up against the wall, holding up his hands and looking at me scared.
"I ... I don't know what you're talking about," he said.
"Quit the fucking lies and tell me where my queen is!" I yelled, hammering my fist into the wall right beside his head.
That made him flinch, moving a little to the side. The fucker was really scared now. Good, then he knew not to fucking mess with me in the future.
"I ... I don't know, my lord!" he shouted.
"Liar!"
He shook his head, the tangy smell of fear hanging in the air.
"N-No, I promise!"
"You have wanted her gone from the second I brought her with me. Do not pull that stupid shit with me. I know you are not telling the truth. You took her! Now tell me where she is!" I shouted.
"My lord ... please, I do not know."
I was about to beat the living shit out of him, when Ace grabbed my arm, pulling me back to him.
"What?!" I asked, annoyed.
"Just wait."
"For?!"
"Dominic, listen to his heartbeat when he speaks. It isn't jumping as it would if he was lying!" Ace pointed out to me.
I turned my head, looking at the older vampire. He was holding up his hands in front of him as if he could actually protect himself against me, but as I calmed down a little, I realized that this was not someone who was speaking lies. He was truly scared, and if he knew where Lara was, then he would for sure tell me because he was justthatscared.
I sighed, running a hand through my hair, leaning my head back, and groaning, as I thought about what this meant.
"Then where the fuck is she?!" I asked.
Aaron stepped forward, going over to Renly.
"Do you have any idea who could have taken my daughter?" he asked.
Renly looked at him shocked.
"Daughter?"
"Now is not the fucking time," I said. "Do you have any sort of idea who could have come for Lara?!"
Renly shook his head.
"My king, we might not like your choice, but we are not savages, we do not just abduct innocent females and take them out into the woods to be butchered."
I didn't believe him for a second. This was exactly something I believed they could do. If they were truly unsatisfied with my choice, I knew the rules of the game would change, but then, of course, the council had always liked being sneakier and they kind of liked hitting you from where you couldn't see them. They might just have had other plans to take Lara from me.
"I am not having this discussion right now. You must know if someone was planning anything!" I said.
Renly shook his head.
