In the meanwhile, he continued his fights, with Sasha and Aleera working together to promote him. Their confidence and wealth grew – and just yesterday, Sasha had officially moved in. A feat they’d celebrated with drinks, partial unpacking, and then a long, sensual romp in the bedsheets.

He stroked Sasha’s hair again. “How’d I get to be so lucky?” he murmured. His heart radiated with love. Even though they hadn’t achieved everything they wanted at this point – the way ahead was clear.

Everything felt bright, and beautiful with Sasha by his side.

“No…” she whispered back, eyes fluttering open. “That’s… what I should be saying… to you.” She kissed his chin and yawned.

“Do you think it’s too early to ask for marriage?”

Her eyes widened. “Uh.” She blinked. “This is too early in the morning. Let me have coffee first and then we can talk about serious stuff.”

He grinned, bounding out of bed to make coffee, just the way she liked it.

“Good news, by the way,” Sasha said, ambling over to him, hugging him in that way he loved so much. “It looks like the owner is willing to sell to my parents. They can move out in a few months once we finalize all the documents. They can finally live in a decent house that has the facilities they need.”

“That’s great news!” he exclaimed, interrupting the coffee-making to hug and kiss her from a more convenient position. “I know you were worrying about the deal after so many rejections…”

“House hunting sucks ass,” she grumbled. “But this time, it’s real. My parents, my sister… they deserve this.”

As do you,he thought but didn’t say. Turning back to the coffee, he thought,You deserve the damn world. I will give it to you.

She didn’t think he was disgusting at all. That was all that mattered.
